After drawing lots for a portion of CATA's regional fleet, China Central ended up with a number of Tupolev Tu-154Ms that formed the backbone of its domestic fleet through the early 1990s. With red stripes painted blue, and new titles, the aircraft looked brand new by Chinese standards, flying until 1996. The Tu-154s were replaced by Boeing 737 aircraft and were sold off to a number of regional airlines in Russia, Central Asia, and Vietnam.
