Carolina Air's 747 fleet was based out of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. Upon entry into the Charlotte market, Carolina Air and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte signed an agreement to train pilots and administrators. To commemorate this historic agreement, a 747-100 was painted in the colors of the university. Indeed, this particular aircraft is used to train long-range flight and cabin crew under the supervision of experienced employees. Indeed, this 747-100 share with another 747-100 the status and dignity of the airline's flagship.
UNC Charlotte was established in 1946, did a brief stint as a two-year Community College, before becoming an accredited four-year institution in 1961. By 1992, it had established masters and doctoral programs.
