why
Because there is demand for it. It’s currently the longest in my world, and despite the weight restriction, I still make healthy profits on it.

It used to be operated by a B787-8 with GEnx engines, it was over the max full load range but didn't have weight restriction because my seating configurations were realistic and rather generous.
It has been switched to a B777-200LR for now.

In game terms the only thing I've found worse than the 777-200LR for capacity vs fuel efficiency is the A340-500...

Oh yeah definitely. I've reached the stage where I'm out of new places to expand so I'm just scheduling across the world flights now.. and I operate a bunch of 777s already sooo... why not I guess

If we're talking about AE flights, if I remember well enough a few months back I believe I operated DTW - HND at 6,427 mi at one point.

Longest journey: AMS-SYD 10,342 miles / 16,644 km direct, however I went via FRA and SIN, changing aircraft at both so arguably does not count but with elapsed time of 24 hours it felt like it.
Longest single leg: LHR-SIN 6,762 miles / 10,882 km, usually about 13 hours.

ORD - HKG, roughly 7790 miles, don't remember which plane at the time but I'm fairly certain it was a 777.
AE is the best.
