Apparently in Hong Kong...
A child is a person under 14 years of age. A young person is a person who has attained 14 years of age but is under 16 years of age. A“juvenile” for the purposes of the PCJO is a person of 14 years of age or upwards but under the age of 18 years. There are two types of Single Journey Tickets - Adult and Concessionary. You can purchase them from the Ticket Issuing Machines in all MTR stations. Concessionary Tickets are available for children aged 3 to 11 and senior citizens aged 65 or above. Students aged 12 and above travelling with Single Journey Tickets are required to pay full adult fare. To enjoy concessionary fares on the MTR network, students must travel by Personalised Octopus with "Student Status". For further details, please refer to the "Student Travel Scheme".

Airlines use 12 as the cut-off age too. I can fly alone and not be counted as a UM now. And I pay adult fares. (Really my dad/mom/whoever's booking does.)

Why would I care about how many "friends" I have on a virtual desktop game?
People are stupid.
This is why we need to put everybody under the age of 18 into permanent summer camp away from the internet.

To put this to bed, her is an official Hong Kong govt source of the definition of a child. http://www.childrenr...hksit00&lang=en
Other than that, please report it to the mods. If you need assistance, PM me and I can talk to them on Discord.
I meant on public transport, INCLUDING most airlines, <12 is a child and 12+ is an adult. Child may officially mean under 18 in most countries, but when people say "child" in EVERYDAY SPEECH it normally means under 7. Like on toothpaste when it says "Keep out of reach of children" it means under 6, or in some cases under 12, but NOT under 18! So give me a break! Just try calling ANY 10-17 year old a "child" and they WILL get angry!

Well done for quoting your own post, NOT!

That would get rid of most people on AE.

Seriously, that's the LEGAL DEFINITION OF A CHILD! When people say child in everyday speech they normally mean ages 4-9. 0-3 is toddler. 10-12 is tween or preteen. 13-19 is teen. 20-64 is adult. 65+ is elder.

So you're saying that the age definitions of a train company take precedence over the law? Unfortunately, I've got news for you. It's the legal definitions that matter for COPPA, and any other child-related law.
I was talking about what people in the REAL world mean by "child". LEAVE ME ALONE!!! And if you haven't realized, MTR is a MAJOR transport company in Hong Kong and they WERE approved by the government! I PAY ADULT FARES NOW ON AIRLINES AND HONG KONG PUBLIC TRANSPORT (AND PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN SINGAPORE, NEW YORK ETC.), OK?!! SO GIVE ME A BREAK!
And what's your magic number now? 10? 12? 13? 15? 17? 18? 20? 21? I don't know at this point. In the meantime, here's some well-known users who started AE before 13:
Viero, Lorenzo Zacca, NNR, QWERTYUIOPASDFGHJKLZXCVBNM, Oggey, and many others.
You don't complain about THEM, do you?

Maybe the forums is not the best place to talk about your views and opinions.
