On behalf of its owner, management of Colossus Express Airways is posting this once in a lifetime opportunity to run the greatest airline of all time.  The new officer will have the title Chief Operating Officer (COO) and will report to the CEO and owner.  A few fun facts about Colossus:

-Every day we board approximately as many passengers as live in Germany.

-Our annual sales amounts to one quarter world GDP, higher than the US's GDP.

-We are over 130 times more valuable than our next closest competitor and increase that margin every day.

Applicants must have the following attributes:

-a sophisticated understanding of economic concepts such as yield and opportunity cost

-ability to read Excel spreadsheets

-willingness to learn

Applicants who can explain Colossus's current business model will jump to the front of the line.

The future COO will receive a spreadsheet and word document explaining our business model and vision for growth.

They regard success as losing since they aren't capable of building top airlines themselves :P

what a ultra gigantic airline you got there, indeed an interesting secret business model.

although I don't have crystal clear picture of what you actually doing, here are some points from my quick observation

- while other airlines focus on flying out of mega hubs, your focus is to fly out of every air strip in the world, where no other airline flying

- fly short distance in super ultra high frequency between your ultra small hub cities, picking up all ghost connecting traffic from out of nowhere

- i tend to assume you use scam ifs/ife, the your money basicly come from ancillary revenue, however you also charge a very high ticket price, so I'm confused here..

anyway, I think the airline is an operational nightmare, I can't imagine how to manage such airline, hope you got a nice trophy when the world end.

You're on the right track Amadeus.  I would say, however, that the airline is actually more easy to run than you would imagine.  Ease of running the airline was actually what led me to this business model.  I realized that, while number of planes is the limiting factor at the beginning of the game, player time is the limiting factor as the game advances.  I built my business model accordingly, after an initial period in which I focused solely on getting the maximum profit out of each plane.  As I switched from that strategy to one that asked what would get the maximum profit out of my limited time, I stumbled upon the current business model.

And I would emphasize that I have previously won O1 without using the current business model, but still mostly avoiding the biggest airports with a few exceptions.  In a previous post I've pointed out how slackjaw stupid flying between the most famous cities always is - simply because there's always idiots flying those routes who don't know how to play (or who don't care about winning).

how easy is that? I might apply to fill the vacant post, but right now I'm scared half dead just to see you have 30,000 a/c with 19+ utils, lol..

 I spend less time than most of you on AE and most likely have more of a social, musical and sports life than all of you so think before you say :P

Amadeus - if you're deploying 30+ aircraft per route, and about 50 aircraft are delivered per month, one can log in every 6 months, create 10 routes, and be done.  It's quite easy.  Depending on your IQ, it may take 30 minutes or so to understand the details of the strategy.  Email me if you want in.

Correction - direct message me and DOC.

Re doing other things besides AE, Nexus, I can assure you that I too have quite a bit else on my plate.  Once set up, Colossus can be run in the background while working on other things for a couple hours once or twice a week.

Also, Nexus your quip about having less time to play rings hollow, considering that Colossus is not only bigger, but also far more efficient, than any other airline.  We have about 150 times the value despite the fact that others have almost a third our distance flown and a tenth of our passengers.  Obviously we are doing something that you were unable to think up and are simply better at the game.  Don't be a sore loser.  Credit where credit is due.

First of all...What the hell is Rings Hollow. :P

Better value in less distance...Like saying Passengers to fly from Denver to LA you will have to make five stops in between while we spam our connecting PAX. :P

Fox Trident -

You are off on all of your points.  First, I assure you price cutting is not part of our strategy and this is not simply spamline.  Therefore, I'll not take your wager on competing strategies because neither of the two you propose is any good.

Your 736/739 metaphor would be valid if a 739 was 150 times bigger than a 736.  It's not - look it up.  It's more like we're flying the A380 and everyone else is making paper airplanes.

Re shared control - DOC has been unable to log in for at least a decade, so this has been a one man show since then.  (Props to DOC for making it the #1 airline from the beginning).

You do write well for non-native English speaker, however.

The strategy which you've sort of glossed over seems a bit... boring.

I don't know if I'm just a masochist or something, but once I get an airline running, I think it's fun to post losses every now and again to keep me on my toes.

Lol Fox, thanks.  Vielen dank.  Sie sind ein Mensch.

Nexus - DOC's computer isn't able to handle the size of Colossus these days, he hasn't been able to log in to the airline itself in a while.
