somewhat fair coverage from avherald.com: Lion Air at Denpasar and local aviation blogger: Lion Air at Denpasar
there's a picture said to be taken around time of accident, showing some weather action in vicinity:
weather reported: WADD 130730Z 15006KT 110V270 9999 FEW017CB SCT017 30/25 Q1007 NOSIG
Judging from a the picture where the airport fence is intact, i would not say it's an overshoot. And with previous aircraft landing reporting windshear, the aircraft would probably brought down by a severe downdraft on short final. Despite the past issue with the airline, it has greatly improve the overall safety, and with 200 Boeing aircrafts in order (and another 234 Airbus ordered recently), Boeing management and safety expert were all over on the board advisory panel.
Our people in the country love to point finger and look for scapegoat, thanks to provocative media that sensationalize the event. But let's wait until the investigation complete before condemn the pilot or the company.

Wait, so it didnt overshoot right? It was short of the runway which means it never really reached the runway? It looked ike it never made it to the runway and dropped down to the sea. The accident seems similar like the incident with Turkish Airlines B738 in AMS.

Perhaps they crashed it intentionally to take out an insurance claim so they can help fund their lolheug $84 billion order for tons of planes

1 out of 400 aircraft? They don't need the small change from insurance, Mr. Obama people and also now Mr. Hollande people will help them fund the purchase anyway

But if the insurance pays out, im 100% sure they will then get at least a couple more plane orders out of that. Same story with the MD-80 when it overran a runway back in the 2000's.

Are you saying the the ability to order couple more aircraft worth the hassle and the negative PR from the crash? I'm also 100% sure that the insurers will increase their premium rate significantly, or even deny liability if they found out the crash was intentional.

Haha no no, im not saying its intentional whatsoever..
Its just that Ive read on a company where they have an old 1970's Cessna 402 that is worth merely $100,000, however is insured for about $1,500,000 IF in total loss. Imagine what it would be if it was a 737. Get where im getting at? I guess it can also depend on the premium.
Plus, I dont think negative PR would really harm Lion Air in anyway really, theyre just rapidly growing so fast that its starts to seem ridicolous!
As much as I may dislike the airline and I know im not alone in this, especially for those in Indonesia, we know we need them. Its a love hate relationship.
