I must spread the gospel of public transportation and connectivity as aggressively as these VERY vocal Christians on campus today.

I've got a two and a half day Labor Day weekend... Oh where can I go??

Brigadier General Felix Gedney presented me with a Britsh Army general's coin for my outstanding service to his family during their travels around the world.

I keep thinking about my trip last weekend to Albuquerque to ride the New Mexico Rail Runner. It's a commuter rail service, but the trains were just as comfortable as any regional inter-city train in Germany and offered free wifi and power outlets. I wonder if state-supported regional rail like this is the future. Maybe a Wichita - Salina - Manhattan - Topeka - Lawrence - Kansas City regional route would be successful? Just bought a ticket on Allegiant's second flight from Phoenix to Manhattan. $35.50 one way if booked at the airport! Incredible.

Day two of training here in Dallas - tonight I've got to take the train to somewhere more interesting and walkable. There is literally nothing to do here after class.

Half of the battle for good public transport is education. Only thirty percent of LA/ Orange County I-5 drivers thought (perceived) Metrolink, the regional commuter rail service, as being reliable while 94.5% of all trains arrived within 5 minutes of the scheduled time. Keegan and I went flight shopping in DFW today: First the Washington DC flight was full, then the New York flight was full, so we said screw it let's go to Canada - We get on the plane, and then there's a maintenance issue which requires another airplane, so the new arrival time is way too late for us - and the Washington flight is delayed. So we're on the plane to Washington now. Oh the joys of nonrevving!

Aaaaand there's no flights at MHK at all today.
