Posted by Jireh Garcia on 23 March 2012 - 11:30 AM

Hi!

In the "Order new aircraft",The add-ons for the winglets A330/A340 family has none. But in the pictures shown it has winglets,CLEARLY.What is going on?

The A330/A340 already comes with winglets installed, they are not optional

The Airbus A330 and A340 series was designed with winglets. thats why you cannot select if you want it or not.

Well it should have the already installed with no remove option like the Boeing 747-400.It says:Winglets:Installed and there is no option available to remove it in Aircraft Information. It Should be like That.

that because you can't remove the A330/A340 winglets...

The B747-400 family have 2 Versions. the -400 and the -400D.

The -400 have mounted winglets cause of their long range and improved cruise performance to reduce fuel costs and improve the range.

On the -400D there is not installed winglets cause the aircraft where designed for the japanese domestic market/ Short haul routes with high density.

It is however possible for the 747-400 to fly without winglets but all 747-400`s where delivered with winglets and winglets is a part of the -400 itself. so the only 747-400`s you will see without winglets is the -400D or -400`s that have got a dammaged winglet that needs replacing.

See CS100, E-Jets and CRJs.
The A330/A340 should in fact have winglets.

The A330s and A340s now have compulsory winglets installed.
