Hello all,
My name is Ross. Been here since 2011 ( I am sure many of you know me). My airline is Asteria (you will see it around games), and I've worked in the industry in the past.
I've taken over as the new data manager for AE. Figured it was time for a thread with some updated instructions for aircraft requests as I sort through things and plan updates.
AS OF October 1st, 2022 - Right now, I am going through each request and adding a status and comments about the status of them, all the way back to the beginning. Some threads might be locked if they are rejected or implemented already (see below). I am also hiding old threads from before 2017 to clean things up.
If you know of a real world aircraft that is not in Airline Empires, this forum is where you are able to make those requests.
Create a new topic in this sub-forum for your request. It will be then reviewed by a staff member, who will consider it and begin the process of collecting data.
Please add issues with aircraft to the bug tracker! LINK IS HERE.
Before requesting an aircraft, please check the game before making your request, using the "browse aircraft" function. It may not be in production in your world, but it may be available at a different time period.
Please also search the forum for any aircraft that might already have a thread to avoid duplication! A link to a roadmap board will be posted in the coming weeks.
There are a few further things that I request that you keep in mind when requesting aircraft:
Data
Aircraft will only be added where real world data (with reasonable sources) exists.
It is not compulsory, but it is always helpful if you know of any technical data to post it (with sources) with your request.
Future Designs or Unbuilt Aircraft
Future aircraft may be considered if they are reasonable, from a reputable manufacturer and with an offer for sale, a sound entry-into-service date and confirmed orders. Example - 777X is more likely to get added than the SpaceJet due to the 777X having firm orders, its flown already and is on track for delivery. SpaceJet program is suspended due to COVID so unlikely to get added until there is evidence of a potential delivery. All eVTOL and Electric Aircraft will not be added until they are in revenue service.
Aircraft Types
Most of the time, aircraft must have had a passenger transport variant in production to be considered (no freighters, tankers or military aircraft unless there is a civil passenger version in service, or justifiable potential for one). We do not currently support seaplanes or flying boats. NEW: Business Jets & Other GA Aircraft will now be evaluated to see if they have operated on scheduled Part 135 or similar public charter operations due to new carriers such as JSX, Wheels Up, Aero and others sprouting up, and added if they pass this test. We will evaluate old requests to see if they fit this too.
Previous Requests
If you requested an aircraft on the previous requests threads, and they do not feature in game, on the work in progress list or on the rejected list, then you will have to re-request it.
Request Statuses
I've implemented some new statuses to keep track of things. In the coming weeks I'll be sifting through and throwing all requests into the following statuses:
- [NEW] - Please use this to flag any new requests
- [UNDER REVIEW] - Staff members are reviewing the request
- [IN PROGRESS] - Aircraft Request is being implemented.
- [NEEDS DATA] - Flagging Aircraft that need data
- [UNDER DISCUSSION] - Open discussion with rest of DC team about implementing
- [IMPLEMENTED] - Aircraft is in game. Thread will be locked at this point, use the issue tracker for data updates.
- [ALREADY IN GAME] - Any aircraft already in game. Thread will be locked.
- [REJECTED] - Rejected. Will not reason why in thread or title and lock thread (with certain exceptions like the SpaceJet.
- [MOVED TO ISSUE TRACKER] - Any update request, will move them to the issue tracker & lock thread.
- [DUPLICATE] - Flagging any duplicate requests. Will lock thread.
Stay tuned for future updates including a link to a roadmap tracker.
Looking forward to making AE great.
