(all those types of routes need is a well placed a333 or 757 at max freq to bring them down to $20 fares).

I have 2 x A333's is this an invite to have fun.:)

One-ways still produce half the revenue if there is enough demand for a roundtrip. If there is not enough demand for a roundtrip (2x number of seats), a one-way becomes more profitable because there are half the seats available so the ticket price goes up.

I see your point about having insane profits with one-ways - this will be taken into consideration when I design the new lf script.

Gotya, thanks - :)

The economy in sim2 (and AE in general) become virtually invincible.

lol we know some will become and they think they are (INVINCIBLE)

Not pointing the finger at any but a few. :):P

David, as you are in control of sim2, you just go ahead and reset it, and announce what you think is best as for starting Cash and AC. This poll in AE Staff Announcement requires a super/Mod and only Court or Kris have that access.

(60 votes) ??? I only see 5

but I'm still not convinced its particularly fair on the people who will inevitably join later.

.

As a Super Mod, I get a lot of Visitor Messages from those who have started an airline but never used the forums to make a profile.

Most are quite shocked to read forum, with so little time since reset in past that they have tried to make an airline but can not due to lack of gates in profitable locations or so many large aircraft making massive returns that their little beech is swollowed up.

Most say that this game is Cool, but not cool for the new starters after just a week of new rounds starting.

One must agree with their general comments, as it is selfish to keep this FREE on line game just for a select few......(Addicted AE Players)

2. How about we scale back one-ways??? Ill leave it at that for now :)

I agree, one-ways are whats killing the game on many fronts, Some aircraft you can acheive so many one way routes that in real life it is impossible to match, having just spend a few hours looking into profitable one way legs, I managed to obtain with my A333 some DOP numbers that any real world airline would kill for.

In past rounds, one way used to be around 1/2 the revenue, so what happened :puzzled: Why is it such a vast difference :puzzled:

well after 4 days, my origional fears are true... a q400 and 30mil is just too much to start with... i mean the there are airlines with 20+ aircraft already only after 4 days... at that rate the round should be over in about 2 RW months... you never use to be able get aircraft that quickly... starting with a q400 and 30 mil puts u months if not a year ahead of where you use to start... even with the profits being "lowered".

While I agree in parts, there are other factors to give thought too, developers need to slow the game a little, reverting back to $5M and 2 B1900 or J31's (Millers Original) seems to be right on the money.

New players that want to join and play next week, will find it hard to make a go of AE, as the server, updating of routes and gates will be issues. The end result will be thay come in look and say, stuff this too populated, no gates, takes forever to make a route and so on.

The used market, adding those silent additions of aircraft at changeovers has killed off many routes, except for the lucky players that grab them, they went from making on a route $900 to $1,5M and impossible for others to join, thus results in loss of game enjoyment.

Early days, LF adjustments seem to work quite well, be interesting to see the route established numbers this time next week and just how slow sim2 is.

We could be in for a reset within the months end.:)

the LF is BAD, im at a -21k when before i had been at +7000, and thats just after one airline has come on a route of mine... my highest load factor is 44%

my one route's ticket is only $36 between 2 major cities... something just isnt right there...

If you set your routes, dont bother about the LF said factor and leave it for a few hours and log back in and re-adjust the routes you will find that those negitives will vanish.

I did this and as more players join, the better the LF becomes.

I managed fine with one aircraft and the first month you don't lose any gates anyway, you get a warning.

:puzzled::puzzled::puzzled:

Then I am the only one who lost all my purchased gates:puzzled:

i never recieved extra when switching between the same type of plane...

I find the wording (Never) a false statement, when the plane swap was in place, even a B1900 if you swap into another B1900 you can make at times up-to 30% or more improvement.

Other higher Jets on one-way legs it was impossible to make good unless you used the swap, so the vast majority used and abused it.

It is gone now, many players have been asking Miller to remove it, why have an un-even playing field !!

This round despite the LF adjustments, will be a more of a game of (Good) management, you will see many in the top 20 change positions and the growth of all good managers will be without gaining un-fair advantage of plane swap.

Really Annoying. Still Red.

If you wait till the second server kicks in it will alter, however in early stages, some will stay red till more players enter the system.....go play Xbox for 1/2 an hour and check back....:P

Cleverly, I managed to forget the password for my account and couldn't retrieve it as the email address it would be sent to is no longer active. So today I registered a new account, which seemed to work at first, but now no longer does. I'm told that the account does not exist.

Have I missed something here and nobody is able to log in at the moment - or should I go and register yet another new account?

If you PM David or Tobias Iam sure when either has time that they will reset your password for you.....remember the server moved !!!!

Not all links have been re-established, I messaged Tobias today seeking that he do some sinple housekeeping to correct a lot of missing links....:P

#62091 [Sim2] Reset: Restart on friday

To solve the long haul roundtrip problem, we could switch to a weekly system (for example, 5x weekly instead of having a daily one-way). So aircraft would have 154 hours a week to play with, and it would be more similar to real life operations. Just a thought :P

Now even more confused.....need that 2nd drink to work that out :P

#62153 [Sim2] Reset: Restart on friday

Same thing is happening to me!!!!

Think you are missing a few things about the game, for a start LTN is not a very strong location to start with, however right now with little players on line making routes you will find it hard to make $$$ till more players develop their routes.

You can confirm this by making a route from LTN to either CDG or FRA which are much stronger, I can assure you that those negitive numbers will not be there from either location.:P

#62056 [Sim2] Reset: Restart on friday

Posted by travelhouse on 16 June 2009 - 09:13 PM in Announcements

Hi Janice,

Point 1: I will check how this is possible, but the second aircraft is not a aircraft bought via the used market. Checked the history entrys, every aircraft has only one history-entry right now - a sold and brought aircraft will have at least two entrys (data about the old owner, data about the new one). Thats not the case - but its true, I don't know right now whats going on in this case. There are also no entries in finance-table that the user has bought an ac. So thats definitivly cheating - the user will get banned.

Point 2: I know there are problems with one way. But I see some problems in solving this without a schedule. So in my opinion it should be possible to fly triangles with one-way routes. For example you should be able to plan this flights in sequence:

- FRA-FCO
- FCO-TXL
- TXL-FRA

So this is a closed sequence, should be possible and is ok. Not ok is such an sequence:

- FRA-FCO
- FCO-TXL
- FCO-LHR
- LHR-DUB

Thats not closed, and in this constellation the aircraft has to start two times from FCO, but it will fly only once through Rome. But without a schedule system its difficult to detect illegal one-way-sequences. Know a user creates route per route - single process. So the next problem is: take the legal example from above (FRA/FCO/TXL/FRA). Now the user removes the route FCO-TXL. What will happen now? Should we ground the aircraft and warn the user? Because now it's an illegal constellation.

So I will solve this problem - just give me some ideas. Is ground due to illegal constellation too hard? If not, it will be done very soon!

Bye,

Tobias

Points notes, just want this reset to become an even playing field, I am sure all honest players seek this simple request.

Below is my Q-400 routes.

While I do understand why players use one way over return due to the DOP gaining more than returns, I am still at a lost and I will look at my block/time/millage/ etc to see if there is issues in why so many routes one aircraft can make.

Oh, the aircraft / route pages look good, like the improvements, I see Alliances and maps are now up, just hope the cloud server keep up to speed.

#62048 [Sim2] Reset: Restart on friday

Posted by travelhouse on 16 June 2009 - 08:36 PM in Announcements

Hi folks,

due to some strange database problems I have forced a reset of the sim2.

The game time will start again on Friday, 17:00 GMT. Mention one thing: It was a hard reset, so the prices/load factor right now are very low - they will rise with more players activated, so wait until friday. Before starting the time again, I will force the routeserver to recalculate all routes, so we have correct prices and loads.

Tobias, I am a little dissopointed that some issues were NOT addressed before opening up the game so players can LOG in again.

1:

Used Aircraft, there are airlines right now that have TWO aircraft, let's face the facts here, its easy for any cheater to make a feeder and release that aircraft onto the used market, WHY if the game is paused can players find used aircraft??????

2:

I have just made my Q400 travel so many miles that I am concerned that it may run out of fuel, I have not exactly worked out the exact millage my one and only Q400 is doing but I have used up all my gates at most of my 7 destination just from my ONE aircraft. The one way routes needs to be addressed?????

Sorry, if I sound harsh, but lets face the facts, right now you can make any aircraft fly that far its a JOKE and with so many routes that they make it will not be long till the game is in another reset state.....Used aircraft, players with Zero Aircraft and others with 2, soon some will have 3 aircraft and we are in puse role.

Getting to become a joke.....

Build in a check that looks at one way freq...

Aircraft 1 fly 1 way from FCO - AMS -> Okay!

Airline tries another with same plane , this time return FCO - AMS -> Okay!

Airline tries with another plane return FCO - AMS -> Okay!
Airline tries with the same plane one way FCO - AMS -> "Sorry , only 1x one way allowed per route"

Dammm it, you took the words from me, carry-on Glennos you got it right......:P

But will add, if you take aircraft number 001 from FCO to AMS and try to make the same route again you have that check in place (Route allready made) just make the aircraft number check to see if the reversed is allowed. (Hope I explained that right)

Well, this would also not be allowed in my world.... You should have a return trip ! and not 2 one ways.

In this simulation we do not really model passengers making a one way trip and not coming back I believe although in real life that is certainly possible. I see being allowed to make 1 one way trip on every route. In fact I would go so far as to say only 1 one way trip allowed per aircraft. Although you may want to make an exception for longhaul planes :P

The has to be a simple way of stopping players just massing on HIGH PROFIT routes, (I mean 10 x A330's) from HND to BCN like has been happening in the past, its not fair as the more they mass the higher their ticket prices go up.

Sure Terminals and Hubs bring in additional PAX but thats where this game in the past few rounds has been annoying, seeing massive Jets on one route. There are close to 500 locations to fly to, not just a handful.
