#54610 Strange Gate Leasing Costs

Posted by doug_Or on 04 March 2008 - 03:54 AM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

From my own personal experience, it seems like when you return gates, you keep getting charged, whereas when they are taken from you due to to lack of use they stop billing you. What are other peoples experiences?

#54609 help!

You can research new routes without buying gates or planes. It will allow you to see what cities are best served by which planes.

Looks like it is paused, so no hurry.

I think Miller is still in the eastern time zone (US). When the game is turned on it is often paused for a while, so even if you aren't in first, you'll still start off just as well as everyone else.

Wait until the game is reset (less competition). Sim 2 resets this weekend. No idea on sim 1.

It's not a set schedule and depends on what's going on, but usually before year 10

its not that evenyone is ordering at once, its that you have the major ones all orders 30 plus... which in my and my friend's oppinion., is rediculous...

simsmart, you said its disabled, but i still only get 2 a month? was it turned back on?

What is ridiculous about large airlines ordering large amounts of aircraft?

#53929 small planes

Posted by doug_Or on 27 January 2008 - 04:33 AM in Suggestions and Feature Requests

i also do sim 1 and started right when the dc-3 production ended, i was only able to actually buy one... but the way its set up seems fine, its just that there arent enough of the cheaper aircraft like the dc-3 that are available to be bought new. the smallest thing now is 40 pax, and 13 mil. i as the onwer will not pay the 3 million dollars for a 1.5 million dollar plane, i understand why they do that, but as a new airline that doesnt help us.

The DC-3 is a 2.5 million dollar airplane. Thats what the market seems to currently value them at. The manufacturer seemed to undervalue them, but that shouldn't affect how you think of the airplane. If they were never available at 1.5 and Douglas was selling them now new for 2.5 million would you order them? The stated accounting value used in the game should not affect how you think of an airplane. A Convair 340 for 1 million overvalue is a better deal right now I think than a 4-0-4 at value.

#53895 aircraft sales

when you sold you got a message explaining it. The accountants only book the profit (dif between value and sale price). This is the way its supposed to work.

well i was wondering about the runway lengths, because i was looking throught the aircraft and noticed the 747-400Er... it was at 10+k ft but in real life its not that high... it regularly fly into St Maarten which is only 7100 ft...

I would assume those runway lengths are for MGTOW. Pretty sure the big birds going out of SXM have to go to another isle to gas up.

with long international flights, can you do round trip? i mean jfk to london is wat 12 hours each way? i would only be able go one way correct? if so will it be made so that you can do round trips?

but anyways. right now how real is it that the plane flys from airport A to B and then the next day it magically appears back at A and flys to B again?

so im just currious about if there was any talk about this being fixed to simulate these flights better?

You can do JFK-LHR RT no prob, but something like LAX-LHR would have to be 1 way. Don't think of it as from LAX to LHR, think of it as between LAX and LHR. One day it goes one direction, the next day it goes the other.

And no, runway distance is not currently a factor. You can fly all the long haul A340 flights out of LGA that you want :)

#53799 Question about Used Aircraft Purchases

Posted by doug_Or on 20 January 2008 - 07:17 PM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

but once u add in the A/c depreciation in then you should get the same number as what it says in the game...

should or do?

Depreciation isn't actually an expense. It is the accounting method to show the reduction in asset value as your aircraft age and lose value.

#53792 Question about Used Aircraft Purchases

Posted by doug_Or on 20 January 2008 - 04:14 PM in Game Discussion (SIM2)

Aircraft depreciation isn't actually paid. It is just the accounting mechanism to account for a loss in value as aircraft age. I'm not sure why it still thinks the 5 year old aircraft are aging, but you can pretty much ignore it.

#53663 Aircraft List, Stuff to add.

One of the things that always bugged me was the disparity in seating between aircraft. I understand That 747-400s usually seat fewer people than 747-400Ds, but they are both the same size, and since we can't charge a premium for the extra room those 747-400 pax are getting, doesn't it make sense to standardize the seat counts on an all coach 32" configuration? What do people think? Should an A300 hold less than an A310? does that makes sense? If y'all are with me I'd be happy to help research these standardized loadouts.
