Kingsland, in the early 2000's, wasn't fond of the GE90's fuel consumption on the 777-200LR. Since part of the airline's 777-200ER fleet is already powered by the Rolls-Royce Trent 800, they decided to work together with Boeing and Rolls-Royce on a more powerful, yet more efficient Trent 800 engine to power the LR. Kingsland became the first airline in 2006, followed by Ambassador Airways, to use Trent 800's on its 777-200LR till they were put aside for scrapping, after 13 years of service, when the first of many Boeing 787 Dreamliners touched down in Australia. This version of the 77L was dubbed the 777-200LR(EM), EM standing for Engine Modification.
