Yuxi, it's time to up your game...

13 July 2018 - 01:54 AM

Ahem,

Before I state my argument, I should at first recognize the skillful work Yuxi has done to get AE to the point at which it is now. I should also let everyone know that I only propose this in appreciation of Yuxi's time spent in the past on AE and the hope that AE remains successful in the future. Now, onto my argument.

In the recent past, many of my start up airlines have been made unprofitable by a great number of spamlines. I wouldn't be nearly as rattled by this had it occurred in a beginner or special world, but my issue has been happening in the "REALISTIC" worlds. It doesn't seem fair to the people who are here to play the game in a somewhat prototypical manner when spamlines and players who exploit artificial pax. inflation take advantage of every possible route. This forces members like yours truly to resort to relying on low fares and a somewhat decent IFE/IFS (name one airline that's truly ULCC but maintains 5-star service). This fails me 9/10 times, so I am forced to declare bankruptcy and restart the process often. Yuxi (or anyone with the potential of having this power), I come asking for a modicum of regulation and moderation over the game worlds, for the sake of the members who are sick and tired of running into this problem. And at what cost is it to the community? I'm not asking for moderation of every world. Just the "realistic" ones. There is much less opposition to spamline practices than there is support of regulating airlines, and members who have stuck with the game for great lengths of time are really getting sick of it [spamlining] and it's time to put an end to it.

Defunct LCC Livery Contest

19 May 2018 - 05:54 PM

Decided the community is a little quiet, so I though I might throw in a livery contest for those who are interested...

BASIC IDEA

This contest is a competition to see who comes up with the most creative rebranding for one of the following defunct lcc's:

-Air Florida

-AirTran

-American West

-Australian Airlines

-Canada 3000

-Jetsgo

-Kiwi

-Laker

-Monarch

-PEOPLExpress

-Skybus

-SkyEurope

-Zip

-Zoom

-Any other defunct LCC (PM me for approval)

RULES OF CONTEST

-Airline must stay in the country which it existed in during operation

-No incredibly radical color/logo changes (Using Neon Green for an airline which used red, etc...)

-Colors should mesh with each other (Aesthetics)

-Collaborations welcome

-Seatplans/Advertisements= Extra Credit

Airport Manager Roleplay 2

07 December 2017 - 09:41 PM

Airport Manager Roleplay 2 is a new version of the successful "Airport Roleplay." Rules are as follow, they are taken from and/or adapted from the original rules of "Airport Roleplay."

"Build the international airport of your dreams, or your little hometown airport with a few daily regional jets. Its up to you.

Rules:

1. Choose a location that makes sense, as in you won't be bulldozing an entire city, suburb, neighborhood or national/state park to build the airport. You can measure distances within Google Maps to determine whether you'll have enough space to build your airport. In your design of the airport, look at real airports using mapping software to see their layouts, and look at the FAA guidelines here for ideas.

2. Provide the details that are realistic in an airport's design and branding. You'll need a logo and gate map at the absolute bare minimum; you can also design ground transport facilities, route and destination maps, airline announcements, departure/arrival boards, timetables, renderings of your airport, and anything else to your heart's desire.

3. For an airline to begin service at your airport, you'll need at the bare minimum a route announcement, preferably in a PR format, with route maps, timetables and new departure/arrival boards to show off the new flights. For your convenience, this is an attached departures board template (GIMP only, sorry :P ) that you can download here.

4. To encourage people to talk to each other and negotiate for routes, no real-life airlines can be used in your airports unless they are currently defunct, however, feel free to use any AE-made brands or your own brands."

5. Feel free to utilize aircraft from the AMR4 roleplay. Although not required, we all like style points. Right? Let loose!

Let's get to it, shall we?

Folks, the war hasn't been lost. In fact, it has just begun...

Heyooo AE,
Now, I can garruntee I'm not the only one here. There are already pages worth of comments with similar and agreeable content, but I feel as though it is nessicary to throw this out there...
FlyAndCrash and Marb1 NEED to go. Their presence on these forums is toxic, and is unneeded. I recently read a topic where FlyAndCrash (now Candy) threw a post about members he believed should be banned. I'm not mad that I was on that list (I take pride in being on that list, trust me), but it was a great example of how low the level of common sense and degeneracy this very community has gotten. A user who had told a veteran community-member that he was upset a false suicide attempt had gone "unsuccessful," was calling for moderators (if they still exist) to ban members, including that very member he had disrespected. I for one, am sick and tired with the abnoxious and unneeded content posted by the two previously mentioned members. On top of that, both members are violating the U.S. COPPA law. Although I am not overly concerned over that bit anymore, it is important that it be factored by moderators (again, if they ain't dead yet) in making a decision to ban or block the users FlyAndCrash/Candy and Marb1 from the forums. It is time for true action to be taken.
