504 Gateway Time-out O2

Yes, this is a serious problem. If you have a goodly number of aircraft, every time you pull up a route page, the server creates the enormous list of possible planes you could choose to fly between those cities (whether or not you even want to add such flights). Before the server change-over, this just took a god-awful long time, and the gigantic page would slowly load. Now it just times out in less than a minute.

The game became basically unplayable (especially for short routes) once one accumulated close to 10,000 aircraft. Now it's unplayable with a LOT fewer planes than that. It's no longer possible even to start a page loading and come back 10 minutes later to see the results -- which was awful enough! Now the timeout settings have been set so low that large airlines are now stuck with what they've got (except for ultra-long routes, for which only a few planes in inventory qualify). Game -- pretty much -- over.

What I believe you're experiencing, though, Makky, is the server's attempt to create a list of every airport in the game, along with your airline's number of gates at each. It does this dynamically every time you load any page with a pull-down menu of airport names. When the server gets busy, it can't even accomplish this, regardless of your aircraft inventory size, before timing out.

If I hadn't become so addicted, I'd have stopped when it took 5+ minutes to load each 5Mb+ page ... so I should probably be grateful that the decision has been taken out of my hands. Ha! Sure was a blast while it lasted.

Some tweaks have been done on the server since the migration yesterday. Please let me know if you get a timeout again.

I can't find the link to the special "bug-report" topic that appeared above the fold on the entry page for a couple of days, so am posting here again. I have been unable to add or change a single flight since the server change, despite many tries in world R1.

Successful page load. Loss of dentures, wig and house keys due to extreme surprise. Realized that page only loaded because KMI has short runway, and few aircraft in inventory qualified as potential candidates.

Tried two airports with long runways (for which hundreds of planes in my inventory would have appeared on the page, had it loaded). Expected it to fail, and was not disappointed. Page timed out within a minute, with no overt error message -- it just stopped loading after the banner and the names of the target airports; browser displays the smug message "Done".

Enough examples. The rapid time-out indeed does suck. But the underlying problem here is that, even if there were no time-out problem, it would TAKE more than a few seconds to load the page. Prior to the server change, it would literally take 5 to 7 minutes to load most pages. If and when they loaded, these pages were larger than 10 megabytes -- of text!

The problem here seems to be that every page tries to be and do and inform one about everything, and when things eventually get complicated enough, every page basically implodes. To save unnecessary strain on the SQL server -- and to prevent player suicides -- there should be a default "lite" version of pages, with optional links to other information. Just because I want to see whether anyone flies from Newark to Amsterdam does not mean that I also want to see every plane I have that is capable of doing so. Yet there's no way to avoid generating such a list, wasting tons of time and placing unnecessary strain on the server.

I've traced the problem to a deeper level - it doesn't appear to be associated with any page in particular, nor is it associated with database-heavy pages. That's why I stopped asking for detailed reports, because those are no longer helpful.

This issue will be looked at by the system administrator today, and hopefully we can resolve it as soon as possible.

It may appear to be issues with multiple processing threads.

When adjusting fares or replacing aircraft, I like to open up four/five tabs at a time. When replacing aircraft, I select all routes and click on "Change Aircraft" quite quickly across the tabs.

Since the migration, one tab will work to completion, but the rest will give a 504 Gateway Timeout error.

I get the Gateway issue when looking at

It's still happening to me. It has happened on a number of pages. I'm unable to access my messages at this time.

I`ve been getting 504 gateway time out`s for the past 5 days or so... Just a few minutes ago it happened again. Can`t go to my routes, can`t order any planes or buy used planes.. I can`t do anything except opening the worlds..

Today its back for me - I had about 35 planes to assign and got about 10 through then it just froze up and I cant access any page.

I just had the very same issue when trying to open the "Open New Route" page in O2. The aircraft page (same as the link JAS provided) also have the same problem.

I'm having the same issue, can't order any new aircraft and have same problem with trying to open the routes page to open new routes.

I am getting the 504 Gateway Time-Out error today, when attempting to enter World for all my airlines.

Was in each of them earlier, and aside from an occasional blank route reasearch screen, all was working well.

I am having the same issue..getting the 504 error in World O2. Its getting incredibly frustrating because of this error I cant add any new routes, but I keep getting new plane deliveries. I am at something like 185 unused aircraft. I also cant delay the deliveries because every time I attempt to do that I get the 504 error.

Any idea when this might get fixed??

I am unable to access my Routes page at all. I get the 504 error of course. At least once when I tried to go back a page, I got the 502 error.

I don't get it anymore.

It just took me 5 attempts to get into my world today.
