The DC-8-50 should have a maximum range of 6078 nautical miles (6994 miles) and a full-payload range of 4970 nautical miles (5719 miles):

I don't have information on the maximum range of the DC-8-60, but the DC-8-61 has a full-payload range of 3256 nautical miles (3747 miles), the DC-8-62 has a full-payload range of 5210 nautical miles (5996 miles) and the DC-8-63 has a full-payload range of 3907 nautical miles (4496 miles). The DC-8-73 has a full-payload range of 4830 nautical miles (5558 miles).

Just so you know - we can only set the maximum fuel range. The full payload range is approximated by the game itself.

Would it be possible to do the reverse? Because the ranges of the current DC-8-60's and -70's in AE fall quite a bit short of their ranges in real life. 
I am going through older bug reports, so to follow up on this, its not possible to do the reverse, without a change in the game's architecture (its possible in AE4, perhaps).
In answer to the original bug, the ranges will be picked up gradually as we progress through aircraft data review.
