World 02 - SFO incorrect passenger numbers?

Posted by daa117 on 03 January 2012 - 01:03 AM

In World O2, SFO is shown as having just over 23,000,000 passengers per year, while SEA and CLT (similar sized airports) are both 30,000,000+ (as they should be). Were SFO's passenger numbers incorrectly entered? They should be around 34-36,000,000, off the top of my head. Other large major airports such as DFW, LAX, etc. seem to all be right as well.

Now the above source from the FAA suggests that SFO should have about 19 million passengers. This differs somewhat from what you suggest. Do you have a better source?

Obviously I am happy to make adjustments, given proper sourced data.

Many thanks,

BA

Here is the right source from SFO official website:

with a 37.581.184 annual PAX in november 2011.
Thanks!
Bye!

Sorry.
Wrong info!
Correction:

from 2010:

39.391.234 annual PAX.

Cheers!

It seems like you are drawing passenger stats from 2 different sources, one from enplanements and another from total passengers...?

By the FAA charts, SFO is right. But then why is LAX in the 59,000,000 range in the game but only 28,000,000 in the FAA stats? I don't care which method you choose (enplanements vs. total passengers), but there should be consistency.

The newest world also has LAX at 59,000,000, FYI.

You are quite right. We should be using total passengers, but it is typically only US airports that publish (though the FAA) enplanement data, so I have overlooked the difference. Starting with SFO, I am willing to correct all airports found to be using enplanement data to total data, if I am informed.

All games work from the same single database - everything should be the same. Sometimes there are errors with the editor causing one world to "drop off" and have a different entry. This can be easily rectified if it is pointed here in the bug tracker.

Thanks for the fix.

The only others that I see as reflecting only the FAA enplanement data right now are Las Vegas and Baltimore. Don't have a source other than Wikipedia for you, sorry.

I will look into this for you soon.

SFO, LAS and BWI now corrected.

Thanks.
