Hey all,

Now this might be the very wrong idea to post in a place full of airline fans...but its worth a try.

I was wondering how many of you will be intrested in a train/bus roleplay. Meaning that you can operate a railway or bus service in a part of the world. Of course, it would be based strictly on present day and no super sonic maglev speed of light trains. The days would be based on today and so on.

I have a pretty good layout/plan on my aging Dell C610 (actully, the layout for a train/bus thing was for a diffrent game) and I would get it to work when I get to UK (less than 20 hours now).

So, who's in?

(Note: I'd be appointing some people to help me run it! Im thinking sombody like Zm.p.er...er...hmm?)

Thanks,

Tin.

I've also had ideas like that, but those tend to be stimulated and later silenced through the usage of Locomotion (Transport Giant), Cities in Motion, Railworks and so forth...

However what do you mean with RP? Is it like a text-based game, a planet game?

I guess I'm in since I'm probably a bigger fan of buses and trains than aircrafts. :innocent: Although you need more people than just me

I like this idea! I already have a discussion of that topic: http://www.airline-e...m-name-pending/ Could we possibly operate in different cities also?

Here is something I found relevant and interesting. Tallahassee, FL Star Metro completely restructured their route network to a grid system. The number of bus routes was reduced from 26 to just 12. With the reduction of routes the 12 remaining were made more frequent.

Previously they had a traditional hub-and-spoke system that required you to come downtown to transfer. Now with a grid system you can transfer at 40 different stops throughout the region.

Compare the maps.

Do you have as much knowledge about smaller communities and their bus systems? Or do you just know about SF. :P

Righto,

To start things off...I will be opening up the game for bus operations in the UK. Im sorry, buts its easyier to start with one country.

You may join soon...when I get the game rules and finances and stuff up. After bus operations in UK ill start the train operations in UK.

In future, I will open the game up further to places like US and Austraila and more. I find it best to start with UK cause its decently sized and I know it well enough so its easyier to create the game.

One thing I have found is that google maps plus 1/3 of the trip time is fairly accurate for bus operations in a suburban area. I checked it against my local bus systems schedules and it is close enough for local routes. That way you have to plan how many buses are on each route.

*YMMV with rural or motorway servcices.

Hello all,

There will be 2 kinds of operations you can select to operate. Below, I have listed then with a short description:

County Operator:

Posted Image

Perhaps the best option and it kindof gives you domination and a monopoly. Operating in a country, you get to reserve 1 (or 2 if its small) of the above counties to operate your services in. You sortof become the main operatror there. Aloth, you really dont operatre into other counties as heavily as your own. Selecting this option is also nicer, cause your allowed to take over existing IRL companies in the area when you start up, giving you a nicer starting fleet and routes (has to be approved by me first).

If you wish, you can reserve your county now by contacting me! Below are ones that have been reserved. Also, if you agree, you can share a county between 2 people (2 seperate bus companyies).

Tintinfan - Yorkshire
Japantitan - Devon & Cornwall
Zmapper - Lancashire

Long distance coach:

Posted Image

So, you want to be the next National Express? London to Leeds by expresss coach? Well, select this! Being a coach operator is perhaps the easyiest option. You are not limited to counties or anything. Your only limitation is really that you need to use coach buses.

Terrorist attacks wont be part of it.

Also, you might have to wait to operate a company out of UK, but dont worry...it wont be long after the UK one is up! :)
