Hello,
I have a question, what are you people replacing your DC9's with, I just can not seem to find a fair replacement that has similar capacity and range that becomes available before early 2000's and is under production at least until 200, so far the closest replacement I see is EMB 195 STD for shorter routes but its only released in 2005 and is not a solution for longer DC9 flights
Thanks, Tim

DL/NWA still has DC-9s in the fleet. However I believe they're replacing them with 738s and the A320 series

well they are replacing them with md 80's but that seems like too many passengers to me,
also I would like to keep my fleet for no more then 20-25 years, some planes I could replace if they are still in production after 20 years, which is not the case with DC 9's

No, it's actually the MD 90, but i believe the 30's and 40's were replaced by RJ's
My suggestion is the RJ100, F100, MD87 or a319

The F100 is a good aircraft...if that works, try it

I usually replace them with MD-80s, though the longer turnaround time stings a bit...

I've heard that airliners are no longer very profitable on the vast majority of routes in AE after 10 years of age. Is this true? Can I have a 20 year old fleet of DC-9s and still make money on most routes?

Avro RJs or the F70/100 series. 735/6, 318, MD-87/717.
My personal choice would be the MD-87/717, unless I needed something smaller, in which case the F70/100. The Avro RJs are certainly the best for routes under 1,000mi.
