i was wondering why world airways isnt a scheduled carrier anymore. I think they would be better if they were. i like there style but i think they need to retire some of their flight attendents and piolt (Some are like 75) ( SOME)

World operates on behalf of the US government and gets enough moeny from offering these services to the US Governemnt they don't need to get into the competitive market of selling seats on flights, offering the charters means that they can still make money. It also has a successful cargo wing, so to sum up it really gets enough money already. It does not have a high enough recognition either to start competiting with the big Legacy carriers to even scrape through.

World Airways was a real popular airline in Vietnam.

They do ACMI ("wet") leases, yes.

Man! World Airways! Last I remember of them was when they had gold & red livery. I requested a flight schdeule from them way back when & they sent me a timetable, postcards, & some brochures. I remember they were running scheduled service from places like Oakland, Baltimore, DC, maybe New York, Hawaii. They were one of my favs. I last saw World Airways on the tarmac at DHA in late 1990.
