7th September 1991:

Australis, the newest airline, has establish operations in Caracas, Venezuela.

The airline was establish to cater to the needs of Venezuela, who until recently, relied upon foreign airlines to get to their destinations across South
America and the world.

With the establish of Australis, the focus will be to provide Venezuelan's their own airline to fly them to destinations across Las America and then the world. The airline began operations with 2 leased Boeing 737-300, which came from a former US airline.

So far, Australis has connected Caracas to Lima, Cali, Miami, San Jose, San Juan and the key domestic destinations of Maracaibo and Polamar.

We recently spoke to the CEO and mentioned the following details:
"Australis began operations last month and we are seeing that all our current flights are usually overbooked. Therefore, Australis approached Airbus and we have signed an agreement to purchased 8 new A320-200s for Australis. We are just waiting on finalising the financing for them.

These new aircraft will allow us to return our current fleet of 2 Boeing 737-300s and expand to new destinations across Las Americas. Obviously, we wish to cater for the broader market and provide our customers with more choice.

This will be our main focus for now."

Expect more news soon from Australis, the latest and newest airline on the block.

Australis is growing strong at Caracas and to mark the occassion, Australis has made an agreement with Boeing for the purchase of Boeing 747-400, to further increase its international network from its Caracas hub.

Even though details are sketchy, possible routes from Caracas could be to Tokyo, Dubai or Johanesburg. Though it is speculation, reports are that Australis has already advise the Dubai Airport authority that it will be flying Caracas-Dubai 3-4x weekly services with the 1st Boeing 747-400 that arrives.

Also, further news from the Australis Limited, the holding company for Australis, is that they have now established a new airline named Easyblue, at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

The focus of Easyblue is different to Australis, as it is a low cost carrier and provide a cost effective alternative to long-established carriers in the region. So far, Easyblue has leased in A320-200s and Boeing 757-200s, which have allowed it open up routes for Seoul, Tehran, Bombay and Sydney, to name a few routes. And like its sister company, Easyblue has ordered 4 Boeing 747-400s from Boeing, to open new routes beyond Asia and the Middle East.

And Easyblue also launched its first city shuttle service, by increasing Ho Chi Minh City-Bangkok route to 6 daily flights. The CEO mention:
"Our city shuttle service in the region is to provide our customers to opportunity to fly at any time there wish for routes that around 2-3 hours from our hub in Ho Chi Ming City. Bangkok is the first route we have establish this service and so far, passengers have increased and we are experience strong demand. We expect this route to eventually go to 10-12 daily flights and cater to the market needs.

We expect this type of service to be rolled out to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta and some southern Chinese Cities over the coming year or so."

Expecting more news from Australis Group.
