Virgin America has beem rapidly expanding its fleet and destinations. They recently joined a new, "perfect" (Virgin America Spokesman John Q. Public) alliance, known as the Air Points Gold Alliance. " We also work in partnership with Virgin Blue, and airline in our alliance, that is based to New Zealand" John Q. Public

We ask Founder, President, and CEO of Virgn America, Lorenz Menendez, how he managed to create such an empire. "well, all I did was think like a passenger. I reasearched routes that had lots of potential, such as our new routes from Roatan, an airport that has not seen an airline in this world. If I had to make one suggestion to other small airlines, I would tell them to expand, not at my grandmas' pace, but at my cats' pace, expand whenever you can, first buy used aircraft, but dont buy the Vickers VC-10, or Super VC-10, becasue those planes are ripoffs. When you can afford to I suggest that you expand to using new aircraft, because there is a bigger slection of aircraft, and they are more Feul efficient that others. Then buy those aircraft to fly regional routs, that arn't thousands of miles away. Just onnes such as Los Angeles, to San Francisco, or Seattle, to Salt Lake City. Remember at first you will not have the biggest market share, and dont want to have the biggest market share. You also need to connect cities other than your HUB, or base airport. For Example: You fly from your HUB in Miami, And fly to Washington DC, and Boston, you want to make a Boston to Washington flight too, it will help you expand alot. And last thing you should also make airplanes fly different routes
not just the same one all day, this might decrease the number of flights that the plane can handle, but this will also help you expand. Afer you make a few millions, you can start making longer routes, and best of all you don't have to make your new planes 'multitask' in a sense, but you want to keep the same routes that you had at the beginning, and you should leave your original planes, that are 'multitasking' alone, because it will be a huge mess if you want to make one plane per route on your original routes."

Well thats how you can start your own airline, and expand it.

You touch on a dilemma faced by startups: purchase new, modern aircraft, or lease older models such as the VC-10, DC9 and other models.
Did you purchase older models (well not the VC10 as I can see) or purchase newer. ( I did older in my first airline and newer in the following ones)

I know someone named Lorenz Menendez. Probably not you but that is kinda funny :P

No i first used aircraft such as the TRISLANDER, but i got that aircraft new, since it was very cheap, then i got rid of them, and replaced some of them with USED F28-MK3000/F28-MK4000

The Trislander is'nt that good of an aircraft, In my success in AE8 I first did it with 707's not F-28' nor the Trislander

I dont use my old procedures now

There are tons of free routes in new worlds, rendering the 707 profitable.

3 years is considered long. The fact that this is an open world, makes it even more obvious that your airline can't be considered "rapidly expanding" in AE. Many other airlines are "Big" in just over a year, in realistic worlds

Just a hint from another large airline--Don't discount the DC-8 60 series. They are very useful aircraft, especially early on.

I would agree, but as I found in this game, that Regional Jets are good to start with and flying within 500-1000 miles of your hub and other connecting cities/gates typically generate a lot of revenue, especially if you look for the flights from smaller airports to larger ones or smaller airports in larger cities.
