America East Airlines is back. After undergoing fleet revisions where we were forced to say goodbye to some of our longtime workhorses, we have re-emerged as a new airline with our previous range but new aircraft to fly that range.

We have retired:
Airbus A310-300
Airbus A330-200
Boeing 717-200
Boeing 737-700, our original aircraft
Boeing 757-200
Boeing 757-300
Boeing 747-8, which was unsuccessful and replaced by the 777
ATR42/72, which were unprofiutable in the replacement of the ERJ
CRJ-705, of which we were the launching customer
CRJ-900
Embraer ERJ-190STD

Our current fleet, which is now approx. 300 less than before, consists of:
50 Airbus A380-800
55 Boeing 737-600
50 Boeing 737-700ER (launch customer)
66 Boeing 737-800
15 Boeing 737-900ER (launch customer)
41 Boeing 777-200LR
62 Boeing 777-300ER
36 Boeing 787-800
78 Embraer ERJ-170LR

Current orders:
9x Boeing 777-200LR
64x Boeing 787-800
105x Embraer ERJ-170LR

Average Fleet age is 5 years.

Stay tuned!

AEA will be introducting a new type to the fleet: 35 Embraer ERJ-145ERs of which we will be the launching customer. This variant of the popular Embraer Regional Jet has a range of nearly 1600 miles, however it will operate on our shortest routes, taking them over from our ERJ170s as part of the AEXpress operation: routes will be mostly on the US East Coast and West Coast.
AEXpress also operated at one point the ERJ-140ER, sister to the 145, which has since been retired.

AEA has signed a letter of intent with Airbus Industrie to order 50 A350-800s when the production lines open. Some of the A350s will be put onto our InternationalElite flights (approx. 10-15) which will operate scheduled First and Business class routes out of our hubs at JFK and CLT.
Also, the first of our second batch of Embraer E170LRs has arrived. Our first batch, fully delivered, totals 78, and our second totals 105: these will go onto routes previously served by our CRJ aircraft which have been retired in favor of the E170. The 35 E145ERs will also enter service in several weeks as we eagerly await delivery. Though longer-range models such as the E145-XR were available, AEA chose the 145ER, as these aircraft will be placed on very short routes (e.g. 100-1000 mi).

AEA is also proud to announce the continuation of our partnership with Boeing. We have ordered 50 new 737-700ERs and 737-600s powered by CFM engines. The 737ERs will fly domestic and international, and the 736s will fly domestic and select European routes (Ireland, UK, Spain, Canary Isl.)

AEA is ordering 30 Boeing 777-200 aircraft for North American services. The 777 is the largest aircraft that can land at our Washington (DC) hub and we will be basing these 777 aircraft at DCA.
AEA has also launched an all-first/business class airline, America East Luxe, and our low-cost venture, America East Clipper. Service will begin in early 2015.
