How about including a 'Sales Broker' in Sim2, that specialise in old/ for sale aircraft. That way you could bulk order aircraft that are due to be scrapped. Sorry I haven't put much thought into this, It's quite late so I'll return and expand on this tomorrow, but I'll just put it here before I forget. Feel free to speculate/ build on this!

Actually, I think it would be a good idea to have dedicated brokers. These would be people who want to play but only do brokering and would be sanctioned by the game admin to prevent cheating. They would not be able to lease gates or build terminals.

You would for example give them a starting capital of say 50 million to start them off, people would then bid with them for the best price, the offer price would be open to the public of course.

Just a thought from me ;)

Pretty much hit he nail on the head Glenn, only replacing a computer broker with more inteligent human brokers. Maybe they could have special access to older aircraft i.e. DC-9's, or earlier Boeings/ Airbii, so they can sell on bulk at a discount.

Could these brokers have special interests/biases?
Would they have to be unbiased?

Just the role for me: ;)

Iam 100% a bitch (According to some), wouldnt give a red-cent to anyone (Yet I have assisted many in the past) - been a broker and even made it into top 10.

Wo wo! Slow down, thats just one person, you contributed so much and things are moving forward. You do what you want, if you what to be a broker be one, forget whatever a few say. Anywho seeing brokers in the game would help alot.

I'd say you're a 0% bitch, 100% kind and humorous (The A380 in your signature image springs to mind in the Dev. forum ;)) and 100% committed.

Back on topic:

They should be unbiased, i.e. accepting the best offer they get.

Well I was thinking that brokers could be affiliated to an alliance if they want to but not exclusively, if a broker wanted to supply alliances then there would be a profit penalty involved or something like that.

And to stop one man alliances from popping up all over the place a minimum amount of players would need to be in an alliance before this could be considered by a broker. Just some thoughts.....

We need to make brokerage as flexible as possible and the cheating side would be handled by the admin of the game. I'm sure that if this does happen that any brokers are vetted by the game admins / anti-cheat staff and will play fairly , after all a broker has nothing personally to gain by getting high in the rankings but by only making additional aircraft available to players which is sorely needed after you start earning more than about 40 million dop.

Brokers will mainly be people that enjoy playing the game , maybe logging in 1 or 2x every few days but don't have the time to keep setting routes or getting into the rough and tumble of it all after the first few years ;)

We would also need XYZ brokers so that it would be possible to get a much better price.

More Brokers=More Competition=Better Prices

The more I think about this, he more I like your idea, provided we have enough interest in brokers. We would also need a designated broker from each alliance at the start of each round, so we all know which alliances are official. Then, we could have some other general brokers.

Let me know if this progresses because I would be interested in something like that. I am already doing a/c sales in sim1 and would like to get into selling a/c in sim2. I like the idea of the offers being public. Its better for the Airlines (they know what's the highest bid) and it is good for the brokers because it would lead to them making more profit. This would also lead to better competition between the brokers themselves having it public. Forcing the information to be public would also cut back on cheating.

Just wondered how far we are with this suggestion :) I quite like the idea of not having the time to play the game as an airline but play as broker instead.

Huh...imagine you are not looking in the forum for few hours, then come back and see a great idea formed by the members :eureka:

On saturday I discussed an idea with somebody (note: not ae-related, not playing and developing - it's good to get sometimes some external thoughts :) ) about the possiblity of auctions for aircrafts.

A broker is another way of being for a better aircraft-trading-system. I will set it on my To-Do-list, guys - as usually: stay tuned :)

The auction idea sounds good, maybe if the broker buys the planes in bulk then sells them on auction when he/ she wishes. Then, people can bid for as long as the auction lasts (the auctioneer/ broker decides whilst starting the auction) and the person with the highest bid at the end of the time gets the plane, the auctioneer gets the money and can put it towards new planes to sell on auction.
