Hi everyone, i'm new to this game and this is my first post. Can anybody give me some advice about how to get a strong start in AE? My airline is ShuttleAmerica(16800) and I'm based out of COS with a daily operating profit of about $94000.
Any help is appreciated!
Cheers

Judging by what routes you fly, fly shorter routes. A B1900D will make you enough to survive perhaps in the first two years on those routes, but you won't make enough to get new, larger planes. That will be a real bad point as many airlines are already buying Q400s and ATR 72s already. Eventually (perhaps year 2 or 3), you'll be competing with A319s that will just suck your profits down as they can charge lower fares and get more cash.

I started yesterday in Zurich, but there was lots of competition there, so I move into other airports in europe, have a look around other airports in the area, you may find somewhere better, my DOP was 71k at Zurich, its now 140k in Munich/Oslo

You will be able to find a reasonable DOP and starting location as the game is in very early stages, there is less than 500 active airlines in the game right now, that may change if the feeder airlines start to emerge. You are best to find a location that in real life commands a lot of PAX / Traffic. Unfortunality COS is very low in DOP return, there are many more airports within 300 NM of COS that are much larger, thus the return will be more. Do some seeking and look at the graphs of those airports around you, if you see a location with 10 / 12% market share as top, you will have a good chance to make it into the top 25 this round. Negitive side to this game is the time consuming efforts you must place to keep adjusting the LF.

Also, the main key here would be for u to understand and learn on how people play the game and how u can use that information to benefit ur airline.
Yes, u may have started @ COS and a relatively poor destination, but since u will be alone, u will have a good change of experiment and try to learn the game, without much trouble, except for the main routes across North America from COS.
Perhaps next time, pick a bigger airport and see how ur tactics work there.

I agree with maestro, in my first game, I started in year 4 and as there were no big european airports with stupid amounts of competition, I made my base in Nice, it was great until Rachel (Ajaxair - extremely good huge airline) hubbed Nice. Some ideas for routes to operate out of colorado springs?:
Denver
Salt Lake City
Kansas City
Phoenix
Dallas
Las Vegas

Thank you EXTspotter for the tips. I now have 3 A/C and fly COS-LAS, LAS-TUL, TUL-ORD, and ORD-COS.
