As of right now we are only able to market research routes in which we have gates at...

It would be cool if when selecting "City Pairs" all airports were listed, not just the ones we have gates at. This way we could do market research on a route before buying gates.

I think this would be very helpful in determining which routes are saturated BEFORE investing money in a gate

I see what you are saying but most players will tend to look at the location 1st and look down the list and see who or what is on that and then make their choices if to buy a gate there.

Example:

http://sim.airlineem...fo.php?city=PIT

Look there and then pick the other arriving location:

http://sim.airlineem...1=YYZ&city2=PIT

This gives you a view of who is there and what ticket price is commanded plus what the others have in place when it comes to aircraft.

Others will just get the gate they do not have as one thing in this game as you grow you earn more $$$ and you expand, if you miss out on a gate now it may be a long time to find that gate again later

This has been brought up before. The 2 issues with this are 1) Very unfair to competition adds to the set up shop overnight. 2) This isn't even close to done in real life. Sure they research, but really they don't know how loads will turn out. It's still trial and error. Just in AE if ya play enough you can figure it out. Also just look at the routes already in being served.

Go to the research page, pick a city in each drop down box and view that information. In the address bar you will see:

......./resroute.php?airport1=OAK&airport2=HOU

Pay close attention to the ending, in this example I picked OAK and HOU (airport identifiers). Change the 3 letter identifiers to whatever you want to veiw, lets say you're curious about a flight from Chicago Midway (MDW) to Detroit (DTW) you would replace OAK with MDW and HOU with DTW.

There needs to be a way to research markets prior to purchasing gates. If you honestly think that airliines dont have a clue of what the route will do prior to arranging required gates/aircraft, well, you dont have a clue.

Yeah...the beta market research is a cool idea....however, like I said in the other thread, I think it could be a much better, and cooler, and easier to use, interface....

yeah it gives you a load of dribble about game capacity change, and no time block is given for the flight so your unable to determin how many frequencies you will get from that particular aircraft

Actually in V2 you can research routes using a great tool. The problem is that I researched GOA-BKO with 757-200/300 767-300er/A330-300. I got great revenue and large profit (something like $287,000R & 260,000P @ $1150/fare) but when I bought the acft, gate and set up the route my profit only was $99,000. This is a bit of a problem for me. I do like the way the research tool is set up and how it shows the calculation process, the the information is just way off between research and reality.

The way the route research tool works. You choose any two cities, type of acft and can test out fares.
