Now that this round has been going for a while, what to do about the dead airlines, those who haven't been playing for a few weeks and are just ocuppying space.
(self interest note: I am interested in the gates they are sitting on).
What has been done in past rounds?

i believe your account and airline are resetted when you don't login for 14 days in a row .

Yup, which is why you'll see a bunch of gates released at the day change, when those who haven't logged in for 2 weeks get deleted and the gates returned to the pool.
As people get entrenched, less and less gates are available, unfortunately.
