Not really America has some airports with very few competition

If you construct terminals at any airport and hubify it, then EVERY such airport becomes non-competitive when it comes to connecting (purple) passengers. Which means that competition ceases to be a factor - especially as time goes by and more and more flights go into and out from that airport.
Thus, another great reason to construct terminal/hub pairs at every airport that you fly from/to in your home country (or anywhere you fly to/from in the Open worlds.

You can use smalls airports and connecting blue pax between them.

Some airports in central or east Russia: Krasnoyarsk(KJA), Irkutsk(IKT), Khabarovsk(KHV).
