Greenland have a really small  market, so it wouldn't be that fun. Maybe try Iceland instead.

Small market and also mostly very small runways that need very careful fleet planning.

Yeah, rather start on Iceland.

God awful people, he's asking about tips on starting in Greenland, not bloody Iceland or somewhere else because someone thinks profits are too low. That's missing the point.

Anyway,

Rule of thumb: Fly one(normal-ish - ie A320series or 737) plane type, use scamIFS first, lower wages to absolute maximum and try to fly to smaller destinations within the range first because the gate costs aren't so high vs LHR/JFK, which because you're starting from SFJ, your demand isn't going to be much higher vs flying to BGO or SVG. Later on as you lease more of the SAME type, you can go on as you benefit from economics of scale (no more worrying about base maintenance cost etc etc)

From Greenland you are pretty much stuck with either SFJ or UAK (the latter is declining), so ya. If you want to do domestic, go ahead and introduce a new, smallre type but be mindful of your fuel usage of that plane, and the cost of the plane. The former for obvious reasons and the latter because it affects your maintenance costs.

Do note for domestics Greenland is big, so you need to be mindful about your domestic range - at least to be able to hop from city to city, and please don't expect to fly from North Greenland to South - even things like Nuuk to Narsuasuaq is a bit hard. Your demand is likely to be horrendously low, so don't ever start your company on operating domestics.

Personally I think it's fun as a challenge than spamming 1k planes in China, which gets easy and mundane and bloody boring very quickly. Greenland's challenge makes the game more dynamic and fun - especially since you really need to keep a tight watch on money and even contemplate replacing plane types halfway through (ie from 737 classics to 737NG so that you get the 737-600/700ER that allows you to fly far and aim more cities in Europe and North Am). It's also good if you intend to keep it as a side airline while playing the rest of your stuff, or if you have just enough time for it.

For me, I'm finding a way of how to operate crap out of Wallis and Futuna, which is a French dependency but AE coding makes it distinct from France. Greenland has the advantage of having major population centres in Europe and North America mostly in range, which should make the challenge considerably easier, compared to W&F... Which has like sea all around it for hundreds and thousands of miles.

No. Iceland is better. And God is not real. Stop pushing your stupid agenda here.

The one time I managed to do it I used Scam IFS, leased 3 or so used A320s, and placed them on pretty much every route I could from Kangerlussuaq. Play in a game world in progress where you could lease used aircraft like that, waiting for new ones to arrive could have you bleeding money long enough to go bankrupt. Also with most medium-size aircraft like the A320 you need at least 2 or 3 of them to break even from the maintenance costs.

Most importantly, set your first routes to airports with lower gate costs, if you set your first one to JFK or LHR or anything like that you'll go bankrupt pretty quickly. Other slightly smaller airports like EWR or BOS have about the same demand with roughly half the gate cost.
