5. British Airways

One of the worst experiences ever! Awful food, old planes and ugly livery. They also flew the Concorde, which was an awful aircraft that catered to the rich while creating amazing levels of noise/air pollution.

4. Air France

Like BA, they have an ugly livery and used the Concorde.

3. Jet Blue

Honestly, do I have to go into detail? Everyone seems to forget the one time the landing gear of that one A320 got messed up and had to land. In addition, according to the Onion, JetBlue has one of the lowest satisfaction rate for customers.

2. KLM

Out of all the color choices, they used to most retina burning variant of blue on their aircraft? They also partnered with Northwest, which was also a pretty s*** airline tbh.

1. Korean Air

Awful. Just Awful. We all can agree that Air Koyro is better.

So what are your least favorite airlines?

I really don't want to start a riot here in the forum, but I must correct you, Hayhaa, and you are wrong there on JetBlue Airways. And in this post, I will do my best not to be bias, as I am a TrueBlue frequent flyer with them, and provide an outlook of the airline from a general point of view from the average US domestic passenger.

A lot of people still do remember the accident in Los Angeles involving one of JetBlue's A320s, however, that's been left in the past, and JetBlue has had a fairly clean safety record. I say fairly, because a few weeks ago, the nose landing gear of one of their Embraer 190's failed to deploy upon landing in Nassau, Bahamas. However, that E-190 still landed safely. However, I do want to say that your opinion on the satisfaction rate is a bit backwards. I have flone on JetBlue Airways since 2009, and have never had a single problem with the airline. In fact, I enjoyed my first flight with them so much, that they're basically the only airline I'll ever take between Florida and New York State. In fact, if I remember last year, that JetBlue has also received an award for being the #1 best airline in the US by passenger service, which I remember they have won that award multiple times. However, it only applies to their passenger service, not the overall size of the airline (number of planes and destination,) or overall valuation or recognition of the airline. Another thing about JetBlue that sets themselves apart from the other airline is the staff! Just wow, are the staff amazingly friendly! I even love how some of their flight attendants, or even the check-in crew comment me on the days I do fly with them with one of their JetBlue shirts on that I own. Ever since my first flight with JetBlue, I practically said to myself, "Where the heck has this airline been in my life?! I love this airline, they're amazing!"

Now, to add on on my least favorite airlines, I'm even going to include some that I've been on before that are unfortunately not in service today. My 5 list will also include airlines that I have never been on that I'll never dare fly on, or even step foot onto their planes.

#5; Transmeridian Airlines

I have flone on TMA before back in 2004 twice with my mother, and we really didn't appreciate the airline at all from how basic they were. Sure, they were trying to be a low-budget airline too, but when we flone on their planes, there was nothing to do but sleep. There wasn't even an airline magazine to read! It was basically like being on a normal city bus for hours. Plus too, my mother panicked when we returned back from New York on them into Orlando-Sanford, and they lost her bag that she did put travel insurance on. To this day, we never retrieved the bag filled with her make-up and expensive clothing.

#4; Frontier Airlines

I'll admit, I'm not a fan of low-budget airlines since they strip away everything and charge everything. However, I really do look down upon Frontier, because years ago, they had the same kind of in-flight entertainment that was on JetBlue at the time on their A319s. However, looking now at them is just terrible! They practically go from being an airline almost as good as my favorite airline I travel on, to being as bad as Spirit. It disgusts me on how they remove a feature from their plane that's really important in the airline industry for a lot of airlines and their passengers, being their in-flight entertainment; And also having those pre-reclined seats that you can't recline at all. I do understand that they are more light-weight, but its also sacrificing some passengers comfort, so they can squeeze in more seats. What I especially don't like about their seats is the tray tables. They are so tiny to the point where it won't be able to hold my laptop that I have, and barely have any space at all for your snacks or beverages you want, which of course you got to pay for!

#3; Air China

So I've heard stories from a friend who use to live in China, that he had some horrifying experiences from flying on board Air China. He hasn't brought up any flaws with their passenger service, so I have no idea what they do at the airport or on board during the flight, but the biggest complaint that he has stated out to me multiple times is how bad the pilots are. One story that stands out the most to me was that he was on board one of their 747-400s, and they were coming in to land, (don't remember what specific airport,) and he could easily tell their altitude, and was starting to get worried that by when they got down to 800 feet, he was getting really concerned at the pilot's actions, as they did not lower the landing gear until they were about 700 to 600 feet above the ground, while they were on final, close to short-final approach.

#2; Asiana Airlines

I have heard SO MANY horror stories about Asiana, such as how poorly trained the pilots were, as well as their passenger service. I think what struck me the most was their safety record, as I still remember to this day the Asiana 777 crash at San Francisco airport. I remember seeing the plane come in on TV, and saw it slam its tail into the sea wall, and it was horrifying seeing it spun around on the ground as it was grinding to a halt.

#1; RyanAir

Oh god... Where to even start with RyanAir... There is so much I can go on about RyanAir to the point where I need to write up an entire forum post about everything wrong with RyanAir. Basically, if I see one of RyanAir's planes or see an image of their CEO, Michael O'Leary, I will always look away and cringe at every second they've been mentioned.

I've only ever flown with 5 airlines.

Ryanair were fairly alright, we never experienced any unfriendliness or hostility, and we always got there on time.

Aer Lingus were like Ryanair, with an extra smile.

Futura Gael were actually pretty cool, they had inflight entertainment and a decent fleet.

British Airways (I flew longhaul with them from LGW-MCO) were pretty alright. Food was s***, but entertainment choices were decent.

Thomas Cook, apart from being extremely turbulent (blame the Airbuses), were pretty okay. Inflight sales were actually pricier than those of Ryanair and Lingus.

At least for me it would be:

5: AirTran: Cheap, you get what you pay for. Can't knock them too hard.

4: US Airways: About as nice as AirTran, but without the low fares.

3: United: Consistently an awful experience every time I've flown them since the merger.

2: China Eastern: Chinese, meet all the stereotypes. I think the ads on the seats are the worst thing about them, though.

1: Southwest: To start, they are rarely the cheapest airline on a given route. They also don't assign seats, which means the boarding process is a giant chaotic free for all. Most southwest passengers are also not frequent flyers, which means everything from checking in to security to boarding to deplaning is a huge hassle. And on top of all this, the FA's like joke around, which is not really what I want on a plane, especially when I'd just like to either work or sleep as fast as possible on a plane. All in all, why Southwest has such a good reputation among people is beyond me.

I only flew with KLM (MD-11 Farewell flight), DutchBird, Transavia, NLM (F-27 Tour flight), Onur Air and Aegean.

Onur Air was the worst. You could smell jet fuel in the cabin and the IFE was sh*t. Also there was smoke in the cabin.

Transavia is meh, I have flown most of the times with Transavia. We booked seats next to each other (flight: Enfidha-Amsterdam), but my father sat in the back of the aircraft, me next to the exit on the wing and my mother in the front.

DutchBird was OK. Could've been better.

KLM was fine, I liked that the cabin crew was really friendly on the farewell flight.

Aegean was really nice, except for the space you got. Food was free.

Only flown with Jetstar, Qantas, Air New Zealand and Emirates.

By far Jetstar offers the worst service. Rude staff (most likely underpaid), honestly couldn't care less about anything, not to mention the seat spacing and the ugly livery.

Qantas was nice, it was a smooth flight, despite the flight being delayed by more than 10 minutes. FA's were caring and ensured a good flight.

Air New Zealand was probably the best airline I've flown. Staff were easy to reach, flights were early, seats were very comfortable with good legspace, meals were very kiwi-like, the cuisine was great. Even on a domestic flight they served a (well rather big) snack for you to enjoy.

Emirates was okay, it wasn't the best airline I've flown on but it made the 'cut'. I do like how they supply a blanket and pillow and a good IFS and IFE.  The cuisine was good, very distinct. Enjoyed my flight with little worries, although the FA's aren't as approachable as ANZ or QF.

5. Austral Líneas Aéreas:

Meh. It's like Aerolíneas Argentinas but not so good...

4. TACA Peru:

It's better than some Brazilian airlines, but isn't the best. The cabin crew only speak Spanish. The Ejets seem to be better, but the A320 I flew was a bit uncomfortable for a 5 hours flight between Porto Alegre and Lima

3. TAM Linhas Aéreas:

It's a good airline, but domestic flights aren't so good; the space between the seats and the onboard service could be better

2. NHT Linhas Aéreas:

The planes was small and airports it operated were small and bad too, I think a regional airline can be better

1. Gol Linhas Aéreas:

It's awful! R$ 15.00 (US$ 4.35) for a sandwich (that isn't so good) and R$ 8.00 (US$ 2.32) is too expensive, the seats aren't comfortable and the entertainment is very bad. They say they're a low cost but they have the most expensive prices. Almost all my flights on Gol delayed and the crew is rude. The space between seats is awful too but you can pay a fortune for a seat with more space

Well, all the airlines I've flown have their problems, but isn't a recurrent problem, even because I don't fly so often. I always try to look on the bright side  :D
Talking about the bright side, Gol was the most punctual airline in Brazil em 2015 and I hope TAM get really better after become LATAM

I've flown on PH-GGW (PR-GGW) when it was on summer lease to Transavia from GOL a few years ago and the seats were comfortable. Bit the same as the normal Transavia seats. The only downside was no IFE.

Me:
1) Air India- Booking us on a flight that did not exist. No comment.
2) Easyjet- Onboard catering is too expensive, comfort is atrocious.
3) British Airways- One of the worst IFE systems i've ever used. Have had a decent meal though, and comfort is reasonable, except for their 787.
4) Emirates-Extremely dated entertainment system on A380. Also, they did not load our meals.
5) Norwegian- Low cost airline for long haul. Comfort slightlt better than BA long haul. Cabin crew can have language difficulties, but I can put up with it because they are very cheap. £2200 RTN for 4 when Delta was charging £3400. Even their Premium cabin check-in-desk upgrade would have worked out cheaper than Delta, coming to a total of £3200. Delta's £3400 fare was economy, £3200 would get Premium economy on Norwegian.

Humourous FA's is brilliant. BA's cabin crew and almost all the others are so boring
