This forum is now closed. Good day, fellow players of Airline Empire.
You're taking this way too serious
It's pretty realistic if you ask me. We've got Spirit, ryanair, easyjet, frontier running around north america and europe. All you could do is to Spam the routes as well. Obviously the flying cow doesn't know much about connecting passengers or how to actually kick out the competition. Especially since he need to lower the ticket price that low. He could make triple the money he got now if he use connecting passengers and put 5 times the demand it needed on that routes.

EZY does charge a premium these days though. They're becoming more expensive
Yeah EZY isn't that low cost crazy, RYR however is actually behaving like some of the players that are setting ridiculously low prices.

Hahaha))) "Really???"

Yeah, 5 years ago easyJet had great bargains, but for 3-4 year now EZY sometimes has prices of traditional national carriers or even a few euros more, I think EZY is pretty good for their price especially because they very often use non-budget airports, but of course I used the flag carrier when EZY's price with luggage was 15€ higher...
I'd start counting Wizzair as increasingly serious LLC competitors in Europe, after all you don't just place the biggest A321 order for a joke...
And Ryanair selling airplane tickets at a price that in most of Europe would buy you something like city bus ride or a sandwich, it's a mystical force that no one understands yet...

Unfreakingbelievable high volumes leveraging unfreakingbelievable low margins can still lead to unfreakingbelievable high profits if unfreakingbelievable well managed
Hahaha))) "Really???"
I called it Emirates Consequences. LH getting pissed, BA getting pissed, and the US3 definetly getting pissed over this tactics.
In my experience AE is very forgiving - so much so that when it comes to a showdown between two airlines, the winner is not the one with a better managed airline, but the one who can spend more time playing the game.
I quit a few gameworlds just because I had better things to do with my time than spend 2-3 hours daily playing the endless whack-a-mole (and in a way, this time constraint *is* a reason why I play AE at all - I used to play AWS, which was even worse when it came to time investment needed to stay competitive)
Hey there, i own Jarkii airlines (2nd valuation in R1), i have experienced intense competition. The best solution is to start your airline in less populated cities or countries. I have achieved 2nd spot with this strategy. At least 30% to 40% of my routes are completely competition free and 80% to 90% i dominate in market share. America and Europe are the most competitive areas, so start in less competitive areas. (me and CN-air who are 1st and 2nd in R1 started in low competition areas.)
I have seen The Flying Cow, he seems to be one of those airlines who cares about purchasing and assigning tonnes and tonnes of aircraft. those people seem to be very competitive
signed Luca.
To be honest, $19 for a 1500mi flight is quit ridiculous. However, i don't see how TU-114s and CL-44s are bad, they have the least fuel flow per passenger in the game until the 1980s, if my calculations are correct.
Hahaha))))))
Where did you go Paw Airways? I told you not to quit once stuff starts getting exciting
Why don't you tell the full story and also explain how you challenged me by telling that if I start competing against you in any of your routes (your "territory", as you textually named it) you gonna "smash" me?
Currently in our US market there are 72 other airlines flying, well, after you declared bankruptcy and surrendered, now 71. What do you expect? And we are just starting the 70s'! Wait to see how stuff will start to get "hardcore" in 10-15 years
Sweetheart, if you can't read or make sense out of the income statement of your airline and take out any conclusions out of the ton of financial data available in the game, how do you expect to manage an airline (or any type of business?).
Freaking out that I'm flying with old DC-7, Yukons, Tu-114 and (since I entered in September 1967) in less than 3 years I posed such a threat to your airline that you had to quit? Well... What can I say? Probably:
1) your airline was poorly managed as it resulted to be very fragile.
2) you'll miss the learning experience that I had to go through when I played my first world (first game, end up 3rd as could not attend airline during the last 10 years of that world, otherwise I would have won).
So... next time use the time you spent writing to The Flying Cow and challenging it on understanding your income statement, understanding the route finance mechanics, and then, perhaps, next time you won't be quitting just because someone is managing a route more efficiently than you.
Big hug
The Flying Cow
Where you the one to make Penguin Airlines quit?
You are incredibly cocky. Perhaps the Michael O'Leary of AE.
Just having some fun
Where you the one to make Penguin Airlines quit?
I don't know I mainly set up routes and then, when going back to the routes page if I see that someone is willing to compete with The Flying Cow in terms of pricing I stretch a bit more that route and make some more "dissuassive" moves to keep competitors in check
Although to be fair, R1 is probably one of the hardest worlds to succeed in because of people running hundreds of turboprops. Sure, they're making more money, but those planes also make it loleasy to make money. Really they're eliminating any challenge there could be for themselves, and increasing it by several orders of magnitude onto others.
I'm just putting some pressure on those guys who operate an airline with too high margins to make their game a bit more exciting
