Hello,

since my fleet is growing not only in quantity but also in age, I was wondering if it's possible to replace the old aircrafts with the new ones by assigning to the new the same routes.
Example: I have an A330 with its established routes: can I buy/lease a new one, "copying" the same routes, and sell/let the lease expire the older one?

Thanks for your help

You can change the flights of the old aircraft  to the new aircraft directly. If they are the same aircraft its easy .If its a different aircraft you may have to drop some flights, if the new aircraft cant fly them all.

Select   Aircraft ,details,  flightlist.   select the flights, then select the target aircraft. to exchange.  then ok.   If its a good exchange. It will ask you to verify the exchange at the top of screen ,and select from all the available aircraft, pick one,  select ok, its done. The screen changes to all flights removed from the aircraft.  Then sit on it sell it or scrap it.

I wish there was a way to do this in bulk, as opposed to one plane at a time.  It does get kind of time consuming when you have a route network with nearly 1,000 city pairs, and likely several thousand city pairs by the time the game I am in is done.  Of course, with capacity mismatches (or even speed or turn time mismatches), you kind of need to tend to each route's unique profile.

That said I wish there were a way to do this with multiple planes on a route at once, and maybe an interface that allowed it to be done with fewer clicks and server queries, which take up the bulk of time on AE waiting for pages to refresh.

Oh ok, thanks for the answers! So it is possible, but only route by route. I guess it's done via Aircraft Menu --> Details ---> Flight List and by checking the old routes then --> change aircraft ?

No,  not route by route, Aircraft to  aircraft.  Irrelevant of how many routes its flying.  For instance if the aircraft is flying 10 routes .  Then you select all the routes, and change the  one aircraft flying  all the routes.  To the new aircraft that's still flying al the routes.

Click the "auto-spam" button...?  Since plane replacement is pretty much the only "task" that isn't automated once your airline is up and running, I am not in favor of this.

I do. I love spam. And I love to be able to change the aircraft using auto-spam mode.

This is the 1 thing I need. Maybe customers should care a darn-sight more about service rather than playing into the $1 trap created by spamlines! Seriously, I know how to make a super-cheap 5 star IFS which is an obvious exploit. Whatever!

@TNT I'm not judging the way anyone runs their airline, I just happen to like the challenge of replacing planes.  It SHOULD be work to maintain your fleet. Setting up an airline and letting it run on autopilot is boring, IMHO.

Or they could add this feature and let you choose how you want to play, I think it's both win-win. Adding the feature wouldn't change the original gameplay. More choice is always good.

Isn't the point of AE is to create an Airline you want it to be? This is just my theory, yeah, take real life airlines like Air France, Lufthansa, Alitalia, they all faced a problem where they have to battle LCC or ULCC in Europe making money. Obviously they kind faced challenges almost everyday. What AE have is to offer a real situation regarding the time and condition of the market in each route where you would face challenges from competitors. Sometimes it's easy, but most of the times it's hard. Airlines in real life make due to it, they can't just complain and said, ugh those spamlines.

Yeah except airlines in the real world don't have to deal with spamlines. Airlines in real life aren't flying their planes in the air for 20 hours a day, and they don't fly to thousands of unviable and unrealistic routes, and they don't deal with 7000 frame fleets, and they don't pay their employees 7 dollars an hour.

I suppose so, and they certainly do not charge $1100 for a flight from Cleveland to New York!

But they would do that if they could. It's the possibility of doing that, that makes AE great.

Ultimately, it's because these routes ARE viable in the game (and fantastically profitable) that airlines get huge fleets and rock enormous daily profits.  So the dreaded "spamline" is a result of the game parameters and is quite "real" within the game.

@TNT I disagree that auto-replace is just another choice for airline managers.  That's removing all effort.  When you change from props to jets in the 60s, it takes work.   If you really don't want to log in and do anything, just fly the same planes for 65 years.  A lot of people do that with turboprops anyways.

Isn't that what we (human) do with technology? reducing effort and maximizing the subject?

For daily tasks, sure, I'll buy that.  For games, no, the play of the game is the enjoyable part.  Why not just skip to the end and you can collect your trophy, if that's all you want.  Certainly won't interfere with how I enjoy playing the game.

Well I need this feature to collect my trophy, that's the problem.

The fact that virtual trophies exist is the issue.

Someone bitter.
