Greetings,
Kaibaby.com has today confirmed that it is now in talks with Airbus over an A320 family order
to enable the airline to replace its ageing fleet of Boeing 737-300 & -500 aircraft.
The order would likely be a mixed A320ceo/neo order dependent on entry-into-service dates
for the aircraft when chosen. The most likely mix will be of A320/A321ceo/neo as Kaibaby.com
is looking to significantly increase its capacity over the next few years and the larger Airbus aircraft
fit in better with this strategy with the A321neo capable of carrying 240 people meanwhile the largest
narrowbody offering from Boeing can accommodate 20 less.
The later EIS dates of the 737MAX program in comparison to the A320neo program are also
suspected to have persuaded the deal toward the European manufacturer.
More news on this will be posted when an order is placed.
In regard to the possibility of low cost long haul operations, Kai Anglo and Kaibaby.com both say
they plan to work together on the project and are in talks with both Airbus and Boeing over a possible
widebody aircraft order. The brand under which this will operate has yet to be announced.
Thanks,
Kai
