Thai Airways flight 679 just crashed at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok, Thailand

 

The airplane HS-TEF (Airbus A330-300) is 18.5 years old.

From the looks of the turbofan, it looks like it hit something in final approach, and it missed the runway, so i am guessing that it was a serious bird strike.

yes, but that size plane, it would need to seriously miss the run way to be able to fall of the end, that runway is long enough to land any plane that is currently in service.
