I have an airline, Virgin Australia in R0

The airline has operated 3 routes in it's entire existence. SYD-MEL while i waited for 2 A340-200s to join the fleet. Then the airline operated SYD-LAX exclusively until recently adding SFO as a destination as well with the lease of a 747. The start-up plane was allowed to expire on lease and thus the MEL route was terminated. However, I noticed on my staffing page (screenshot attached) I employ something like 563 cabin crew...

I operate THREE planes with TWELVE weekly flights. How is this even possible.

It is a major item dragging down my profitability, as my DOP on these routes is almost 700k. Fortunately, I am able to survive despite this.

But.....Help???? It's a bug, right?

Screenshots attached....

Been around forever. Gotta remember that pilots and cabin crew only work like 30 hours a month. So you need a ton of them to do anything. LOL

So what your trying to tell me is that I need 563 cabin crew for my TWELVE monthly frequencies.

That is 46.916cabin crew per flight or about one cabin crew member for every SEVEN paying customers.

This is outrageous. I know the economics behind AE are as far from reality as Obama, but this just seems to far out there to be explained away like this.

Beyond my above comment, I also apparently only need four ground crew. For three locations, and three widebodies? With little or no down time for the airframes(aka quick turn[again, only in reality) as I know there are set turn times. But still....

I was being sarcastic................but yes, over staffing in areas and under staffing has been an issue for as long as I have played the game. Just think of the PERSONAL service your passengers get.

Alright, well thanks for the input 2ndAcr. I guess nothing can be done, and the bug is going to bankrupt me. Slow slow slow painful cash flow drain, it's painful to watch.

No one would work for your airline if they make minimum wage :P

You think nobody would work for min wage? I bet if I had a real airline and posted bag handling jobs at 8$/hr I would get a stack of resumes three inches thick. Look around you, thats not economic roses you see.

look @ your monthly financials. isn't their something for training? don't know if AE is programmed as such...meaning you pay employees the max amount so you have 0.00% attrition & thus no training costs & that is a cheaper way to operate than losing 5% of your workforce each month & then having to retrain new employees. an easy way to check it out is to max out the pay & see what it totals on a monthly basis, versus what your paying for training each month. if paying higher salaries is less than the cost of re-training new employees each month...then your gonna save some $$$...it doesn't look or sound like your hiring many new employees due to the fact that you only operate 3 planes (probably could do "something" with those 27 avail hours on one), but...obviously...when you get more planes, you will be "stuck" with more (new) employees & your payroll goes up. otherwise...it is what it is & some algorithm exists for the # of employees & how many are needed @ 0% reserves & for whatever sized aircraft you got...but it is AE world & not real-word. good luck.

Yes the financials include a spot for employee training expenses. That however, if you would have read the thread, is not what this is about whatsoever. It is about the fact that I have three planes, and two routes, with 12 weekly frequencies and I have 500plus flight attendants. That has nothing to do about attrition and training. It is about how I have way to many on staff, because the game is computing that as my required minimum staffing needs. which is a bug.

Just downsize your employees to a manageable level. Once you are turning a decent profit, increase the pay of your employees a little at a time until everyone is happy.

Again you do not understand, I have no reserves and have minimum wage for all employees. I would never pay them more. But I can't control the fact that it says I need 500+ flight attendants.
