I can remember having many a discussion in the past on this forum about whether it was possible to paint the 787's engine nacelles any other colour than the standard white/grey.

It would appear it is possible, just fuel-burn takes a hit... Obviously BA thought it was worth it  ^_^

Don't think it's a photoshop - more like a publicity stunt.

Some more images from different angles:

Yeah thats definately photoshopped, you zoom in to the top front of the engine and youll see its pixelated, its a good photoshop I must admit.

If it's indeed a photoshop it's a very good one. And someone had a lot of time to do all thendifferent angles.
Might the white/grey on the upper front of the engine not come from something that actually is there?

This is fascinating. But why might someone, or many people in this case, want to make people believe the nacelles are blue?

Good Question. And why would they make themselves so much work to provide pictures from different angles? Wouldn't one angle/photo be enough if they wanted to fool people?

What do you think of http://airteamimages.../174776_big.jpg?

I know to beggin with some of you were saying it was photoshopped as a joke. But just to avoid any confusion arising from Ross's 2 week old web link. Here's a more recent article from the same source.

The approved paint was only available in White or Grey before. Maybe they developed it in Blue too, which means BA can have blue engines without any performance hit. However, some people are saying that you can paint it in any colour, as long as it is a single colour.

well anutters reckons that the blue engines are fine. What's important is that the cowling (is that what it's called?) remains grey.

If that's the case, then this whole thing about 787 engine paint has been a non-issue.
