I have been doing some serious thinking, for once. I just started Aer Spéir in S3-B with 1 36-seater SF-340 and I am being charged 650000USD to keep on to this plane, plus extras! You don't need 15-17 mechanics for 1 prop plane. I think that what should be done is that, if you have less than 5 planes, let's say under 50 seats, that you be charged less for employees, like 3 executives on 250USD an hour and 16 mechanics on 35USD. Another solution is that if you have 1 of a particular class of plane that you are charged half the base cost.

Actually this already exists, if you only have planes under 100 seats your being saved costs somewhere. Ask yuxi for the details because I'm not 100% sure on them.

no but still what I mean is that I doubt you need 17 mechanics for a Jumbojet. I would say you only need 8 mechanics and 1 or 2 Executives. Although, the pilot's pay is quite low, I hear that Aer Lingus pilots are paid €250k or USD 300k per year and even Ryanair pilots are paid 80k.

Well pilot wages all depends on what a/c you fly, what country your airline is from and rank. for example a QF captain of an A333 earns ~AUD550k while the FO (or is it SO) earns ~380k. However i've been told that colgan pilots earn about 30k

Also while you may need 17 mechanics for a saab 340 in game, if you have 2 it might be that you only need 30 mechanics.

Hah, pilots making lots of money

Average pay of pilots in the US is about $50k a year, which is only slightly above the averag
