This morning, this appeared on the route management screen. :D  :D  :D  :D  This new window asks what plane you want  and what hours are needed. (I'd upload but Safari can be a B at times.) Also, at the bottom of the flight list, to switch the flights, it gives you a "target aircraft type" to switch these flights to. I like this..

So all else  or  ?

Yes unfortunately I can see it too and already starts to annoy me, at least. I'm talking of course for the first one. With 100 serious and less serious bugs to fix and interesting suggestions to improve the game that I think was the least important characteristic to introduce. An option to switch it off is necessary

An option in the settings would be great.

I don't like it, when i set up a lot of routes i have to make an extra click to see the aircrafts, an option in the settings would be great, or maybe the Selection Panel over the complete Aircraft List, to avoid the extra click every time you go on add flights

Ok, I'm getting sick and tired of this new system, no offence, but it sucks for people who tidies up their airline regularly and it has become a punishment that we do not deserve. :/  :(  :S >_>   :disgusted:

I like it. From Yuxi said (iirc) this new system reduces the stress on the server, so its good already. I do like this new system very much

What I meant was:

An option to switch it off is necessary

in the settings page

As one who assigns aircraft by demand with significant utilization/hours and "seats on market" constraints, the new changes are welcome.  I no longer have to sift through all aircraft, with available hours, that I'd never task for a particular route.  Not only can I now target a specific aircraft type, I can exclude all aircraft of that type which have reached their weekly alloted block times.  No more scheduling aircraft beyond their normal weekly block hours....inadvertently, that is.

I suppose, depending on how one tasks and manages their aircraft, the changes will either be welcome or annoying.  The option to select all aircraft is there for those who like selecting a myriad of types on the same routes.  Hope the changes remain...

While the change sounds good in general - e. g. to keep commuters off routes if you know you wont need them - there is a problem, if I don't know the exact demand and can't have a choice between A319 and A320 or 77L and A345.

With 100 serious and less serious bugs to fix and interesting suggestions to improve the game that I think was the least important characteristic to introduce. An option to switch it off is necessary.

There is now an option on your settings page to show the aircraft list by default. You can even fully restore the original functionality by using that option and setting your filter to 'all'. :)

That said, I don't think performance and efficiency is remotely the "least important characteristic" to work on. Several crucial pages do not scale well and become extremely slow to load, and on top of that, most of the computation is wasted. This change targets several pain points large airlines face on a daily basis:

1) Loading the list of target aircraft when trying to move routes (and then being inundated with a gigantic, unwieldy list that mostly goes unused and is a complete waste of server resources). During peak periods, restricting the scope of that list makes the difference between being able to replace aircraft or not.

2) Likewise, generating all eligible aircraft for the "Add Flights" tab whenever the route details page is opened is extremely inefficient. If your airline has more than 1,000 aircraft, that list is hard to navigate, slow to load, and a waste of server resources, especially since a large proportion of time you're not even adding flights. That mandatory overhead just doesn't make sense from any perspective.

These two changes will avoid a lot of unnecessary work done by the server, thereby improving performance for all players regardless of airline size. From the volume performance-related complaints raised daily, many players would agree that it is in fact a major area of the game needing improvement. :P

First of all Yuxi I didn't knew about the performance benefit this characteristic was giving and I confirm that the server speed issue looks much better now. So if this characteristic was the only reason for this improvement then I prefer to have it than expect 1min for one page to load. But what I judged negatively was the functionality of this characteristic which is many cases is negative. If someone constructs a car where the doors open by inserting a 21 digit code maybe it is safer than a key opening door but by no means can someone judge it positively as a system to open your car door. In any case if now there is an option to return to the previous situation everybody can be happy and I thank you for that.

What may be good is to have aircraft family/class as in a340 fam/ a340/777 class. If I have a flight from R/DU to MAD and can operate 767-2 and 767-2E wouldnt it be nice to have a merged column.

For airline with many unoccupied (yet) planes like me, this feature is quite lovable..

I dont need to show ALL aircraft that I obviously will not choose to fly a route, I can only use specific aircraft, and yes, the performance gets better..
