I  Indonesian food! Since the last topic was about Rendang, I couldn't write anything outside of it >_>

Why not post your favourite Indonesian food here, or ask about how to prepare it, or I don't know :S I'd love someone to teach me how to prepare tempeh  So how do you prepare it? :P

The real rendang ... you need to journey to West Sumatra - the land of Minang. Some people use beef , some uses ox. Cook slow simmer for 7-8 hours so the meat is super tender. Now.. the spices... this is tricky. The original spices involve cumin, salt, pepper, clove, coriander, cinnamon, and chili. I don't how to mix them together. You can buy the instant spices in packet. But of course not original, but better than nothing.

yes, it must be cooked for 7-10 hours until the coconut milk become oily. but if we use modern tools, it reduce the time of cooking without sacrifice the taste at all. One important thing we must know is do not use garlic, use onion only. beef rendang and others minang food are very different ingridient compared with javanese food or celebes food. :D (make me hungry....)

you know, in japan 300gr soy cake(tempe) is $3 how expensive is it <_< but if in indonesia, its just $0.4, to make soy cake is so easy, just put some soy bean in a plastic, give some ragi (rhizopus Oryzae AKA Spore powder of soy cake) wait it for some day, and slice it, fried it until coloured become brown (dont forget give salt :D) and done. its spicy you know
