For those of you who fly either on real planes or on Flight Sim, how long do you wait for take-off?

I've actually waited a very long time at KORD. This image is nothing like KORD. Only 15 planes so far.

From 10,000 feet, you can see the lots of planes down there still. A lot more on the way to the runway on the other side.

This took 1 hour and 20 minutes from pushback to takeoff. MSP with UT on full.

In real life - 1999 JFK - LAX - SYD

AA from JFK - LAX - On Taxi and Holding Tarmack for over 5 hours.

My connecting flight was Qantas LAX - SYD.

On arrival in LAX some 6 - Hours behind schedule, my QF was on wait line just as we landed in the AA flight.

This resulted in overnight in LA and all next day till QF at 20-30 hours.

;)

Pacific, an hour and 20 isn't as long as the line I encountered in KORD. I left the gate, and after starting my engines, I only moved about 10 feet. Took 3 hours just to get out of that mess. One runway in use only for take-off and landing. Another time was at KKCI. Took 2 hours, but 2 runways were in use.

In real life: 2002-6-27: JFK-NRT-TPE

Boarded a Northwest 744 and left the gate at 2:50PM. Stopped on the taxiway due to non-existing "thunderstorms" for 30 minutes. Turned left, looked left, DAMN, there were a lot of Deltas. Encountered turbulence, landed at NRT at the scheduled 5:30PM due to tailwinds in that turbulence, barely made it alive to our next flight. In fact, I was sprinting to the gate.

The longest i have waited in real life was:

MIA-STL, TWA MD-80:
I'm not sure exactly how long we waited, but it was at least an hour on the taxiway due to a thunderstorm.

LAS-GEG, HP 737:
flight was supposed to leave at like 12 something AM, but was delayed like two hours because they needed to change one of the tires on the plane.

Ah, yes. An Air Florida 737 crashed because it needed to be de-iced a second time, but never did.
