Mokupuni Boeing 314 - 1940's and early 50's

Mokupuni Boeing 314 - 1940's and early 50's

Mokupuni kept operating the 314 well after WWII. To keep up appearances with its mainland contemporaries like Vanguard and Alden, Mokupuni adopted a more flashy look. This paint was extremely difficult to maintain, thus resulting in the urging of Douglass by Mokupuni executives to develop an airplane that could reach the mainland and the Philippines directly. That wish became the DC6. After adoption of the DC6 the Boeing 314 saw limited operation to island hop in the pacific and all were repainted into a more sea-friendly livery that retained elements of this one, but the fuselage was bare metal with the logo roundel still prominently featured

great work, this plane has an important place in the history of aviation and the world. well done :)
