Northern Territory Airways 707E

Northern Territory Airways 707E

In the mid 1960s Northern Territory Airways sent a proposal to Boeing for a shortened version of the 707-320B. Despite the aircraft's range, NT Airways wanted to open Australia to more destinations with less stopovers, and thus they proposed the Boeing 707-320E (extended range). The aircraft would've been the length of the 707-120, but with the larger wings of the 320 series, giving the plane a proposed range of 11,000km. The proposal was inspired by fellow Aussie airline Qantas, with their shortened 707-138. However, as priorities changed and new aircraft entered the market, the proposal was abandoned
