9. Guangdong Airlines Next Generation Narrowbodies

2019 was a big year for Guangdong's fleet modernization plans with the airline holding a special welcoming ceremony for the airline's first A320neo and 737 MAX 8. However, part of this didn't go to plan as expected by the airline, this was due to global groundings of the 737 MAX fleet which left the airline in disarray and thus then the airline to keep older 737NGs flying until 2023 when deliveries resumed which allowed for roughly 26 737NGs to be retired with immediate effect. The A320neos however joined with quick succession but due to ordering the type with the PW1000G engines these also had spanners thrown into the works with at least 8 planes a week being grounded to inspect the each aircraft's engines, because of this the airline has opted to change engine types to the CFM LEAP after the 45th delivery.
