Ship N508WB was the 32nd Airbus A320neo delivered to WildBlue Airways, with this aircraft arriving in March of 2019. WildBlue planned the initial replacement of its A320ceo fleet in 2016 with the brand new A320neo, there were talks about the idea of an A320neo / MAX 8 combined fleet. However, the airline decided to opt out of ordering the MAX, and this idea was strengthened with the unfortunate events involving MAX 8's in 2019 with the second crash occurring just 3 days before N508WB was delivered to the airline.

The A320ceo is not the only aircraft in line to be replaced, WildBlue is currently undergoing a fleet replacement of its aging Embraer E190s, with the newer Airbus A220-300.
