As captured by photographer Roy Yang, B-2501, Yangtze's first Boeing 777-300ER, prepares for its delivery flight from Everett to Shanghai in October 2012. The Boeing 777-300ER is a monumental aircraft for Yangtze, as they replaced the A340-600 "North American Flagship" fleet as Yangtze's flagship aircraft, and allowed Yangtze to expand to more long haul destinations than ever before. B-2501, as the first of the fleet, is also a special aircraft for Yangtze. It was the first aircraft in Yangtze's fleet to receive the new livery, to be named, and to be equipped with on-board Wi-Fi. As it signified the future of Yangtze, B-2501 received the name "Shanghai", after the hometown of Yangtze Airlines. On its delivery flight, B-2501 used the callsign LONG RIVER 777, and was piloted by Yangtze Airlines CEO Lan Kai Mei alongside Yangtze Airlines Chief Pilot Han Lu. YZ777 performed low passes at both Everett and Shanghai before arriving to an awaiting crowd at Shanghai Pudong.
