NOR A320 Family

NOR A320 Family

The Airbus A320 family is the backbone of NOR's fleet. NOR currently operates the Airbus A319, A320, A320neo, A321, A321neo, and A321LR, essentially every A320 variant except for the A318 and A319neo. The A319's smaller capacity and longer range makes it the perfect aircraft to operate out of secondary airports in Scandinavia, and NOR's fleet of 5 A319s are all registered in Denmark. The Airbus A320 and Airbus A320neo are the aircraft of choice for European routes, and they make up the majority of NOR's fleet, with 15 A320 and 30 A320neos currently in service.

In 2017, NOR set up Irish subsidiary NORjet to take over some of its European routes. NORjet utilizes Airbus A320neos that are crewed and based outside of Scandinavia, which are cheaper to operate and maintain than NOR's own aircraft. NORjet's aircraft can be differentiated from NOR's own by the absence of a flag on the sharklet, and the airline's full name on the aft fuselage replaced with NORjet's logo. Despite protests from the Swedish Pilot's Union and Swedish Cabin Crew Union, as well as complaints from passengers regarding poor service on NORjet flights, NORjet still operates 25 Airbus A320neos on behalf of NOR, using the IATA code N9, ICAO code NJT, and callsign BLUE TIN, referring to the blue tins that Danish butter cookies are typically served in, a nod to the airline's Scandinavian origins.

NOR used a small fleet of 5 Airbus A321s to operate higher capacity European routes, but only 2 A321s remain in NOR's fleet. NOR has since taken delivery of 3 Airbus A321LRs and have 2 more on order from Airbus. The A321LRs are registered in Sweden, and allows NOR to operate flights with less capacity to the east coast of North America, such as Oslo to New York and Boston during off-peak hours, Copenhagen to Boston and Toronto, Stockholm to Toronto, Gothenburg to New York, and Aalborg to New York. Routes from Stockholm to Boston and Gothenburg to Boston are also being planned.
