Robin R160 UnoJet

Robin R160 UnoJet

The R160 'UnoJet' is a single engine regional airliner designed by Robin Industries in the 90s. The aircraft was designed alongside the R169, but due to complications, and need for additional testing due to the unusual configuration, it wouldn't enter service until 2002. The aircraft features a unique engine configuration, in that it only has one. This is unpopular in commercial aircraft due to the concern of engine failures when carrying large numbers of passengers, and this meant the aircraft had to undergo significant testing to ensure it would be safe and reliable. The choice of a single engine was due to a desire to make the aircraft as compatible as possible with its sister, the R169, as well as to lower it's operational costs. This meant that it features the same engine as it's sister, but only one. The specifications are as follows:

Length: 25 metres
Wingspan: 20 metres
Capacity: 48 passengers
Range: 1,900km
Engine: X1 Rolls Royce RB.183 Tay

First flight: 1999
Entered service: 2002
