YZ A350

YZ A350

Yangtze Airlines ordered the A350 in 2017, during their struggles with the 787 Dreamliner. 8 A350-900s were ordered with an option for another 7. The first aircraft was delivered in late 2019, right before COVID-19 hit. The airline slowly received 4 A350s between 2019 and 2022, but never operated them on any long haul routes. Most of these jets flew the Beijing-Shanghai ChinaExpress route alongside the 787-9s, and one aircraft, B-310J, never operated a flight for Yangtze. In 2022, the airline decided to streamline their long haul fleet to focus on Boeing operations, and transferred the A350 fleet and future orders to subsidiary Novostar, which had previously operated 2 older Airbus A330-300s and 4 Boeing 787-9s transferred from the parent company between 2017 and 2019. In turn, Novostar transferred their 787s back to Yangtze. Being an airline targeted at the burgeoning young population of China, Novostar will use the new A350s on their long haul routes to popular yet underserved destinations around the world from their Shanghai and Shenzhen hubs. The 4 A350s transferred to Novostar still currently wear Yangtze's livery and are fitted with Yangtze's cabin, with retrofitting and painting scheduled for later in the year.
