In 2012, Lion Air made history by placing an order for a whopping 230 Boeing 737s, including the 737-900ER model, with a total list price of $22.4 billion. This order was the largest single purchase of aircraft by a commercial airline, highlighting Lion Air's ambitions to expand its operations and provide affordable air travel to more passengers. The deal was also significant for Boeing, which saw a significant boost in sales and solidified its position as a top aircraft manufacturer. With this massive acquisition, Lion Air was able to increase its route network and offer more flight options to its customers, while also investing in one of the most reliable and efficient aircraft in the aviation industry, the Boeing 737NG.
