Australian Airways Airbus A380-800

This is the Airbus A380 "Superjumbo".

Australian Airways first ordered the A380 back in 2003, and would receive their first one on 28 January 2008, registered VH-AUA. Its first scheduled passenger flight happened on 2 February 2008 from Sydney to Los Angeles as flight AU11 and back as flight AU12. Apart from the infamous flight AU1 incident on 29 July 2010 shortly after takeoff from Singapore bound for London, where engine number 2 suffered a catastrophic uncontained failure, the A380s have remained largely incident-free. All 10 A380s went into long-term storage during the COVID-19 pandemic. 3 were sent to Alice Springs, while the rest were sent to the States. In April 2022, 3 of them were reactivated, and today 6 of them are active, with 2 being stored for the time being, and 2 unfortunately being retired from the fleet permanently, one of which is sadly currently receiving the scrapping treatment, with both aircraft being VH-AUD and VH-AUE. The A380s are sent these days to the United States, London, and Singapore, with rumours going around that they will be sent to New Delhi at some point in the future due to the high demand Australian Airways sees on their SYD-DEL route.

As of now, the A380s are here to stay. They don't plan on being retired until the early 2030s, but with rumours Australian Airways is going to order a few 777Xs, perhaps the end of the road is closer that it seems?
