Garrayura-Mate Boeing 787-8

and now for something not stolen from the internet.

Garrayura is the evolution of Mate - the Virgin Australia to Mate's Virgin Blue.
VH-GRB was the 10th of 12 Boeing 787-8s originally ordered by the Mascot based Mate B788 Leasing Concern, with VH-GRB (CN: 144) being the amongst the first Australian ordered aircraft to be produced at Charleston.

This aircraft wore a transitional Garrayura-Mate hybrid livery to get the flying public used to the Garrayura visual identity.

What is Garrayura you ask? Garrayura is the ancient Dharuk word for Sky and was mainly spoken by the Dharug nation of Indigenous Australians, who settled around what is considered modern day Sydney.
This aircraft is currently nameless, with this aircraft to be named Ngunnalwal when fully transitions into the Garrayura livery. The Garrayura 787s carry the indigenous names of capital cities or nearby landmarks: Warrane (Circular Quay), Naarm (Melbourne), Nipaluna (Hobart), Tarndanya (Adelaide), Boorloo (Perth), Garramilla (Darwin) and Meanjin (Brisbane) as well as Mparntwe (Alice Springs), Gimuy (Cairns), Yulara (Uluru).

Mate will continue to live on, refocusing more as a leisure carrier flying to destinations such as Bali, Kuta and Honolulu, whilst Garrayura becomes a flag carrier representative of all Australians.

    Kinda cute, MATE!

    Nice original work

I miss the koala but this has a classier look I would scooch the mate titles back so they start in line with the first cabin window but this is a nice look. Is this the surviving MATE leisure livery or is it just the a transitional livery?

The beloved koala will live on with Mate, that livery is unchanged. Do not fear!

Yes but given that you don't clarify what the end result of the Mate/Garrayura branding split is one might be tempted to conclude or at-least consider the possibility that this livery was the eventual new MATE livery to enhance brand cohesion. I like the old MATE livery but I would consider finding a way to tie it closer to the new Garrayura branding either through colours or some subtitles or both.

Mate is to Garrayura what Jetstar is to Qantas. There's no brand cohesion. Mate will remain with the existing branding to remain the fun goofy leisure carrier, whilst Garrayura is prim and proper.
